Paxton retains mayor’s seat

In unofficials results from Tuesday’s election, West Pelzer voters returned incumbent mayor Peggy Paxton to serve as the town’s mayor for another term .

Two new faces, Robert Alexander and Blake Sanders will serve on the town council.

With 81 percent of votes counted, Paxton received 111 votes, or just over 55 percent while write-in candidate Jimmy Jeanes received 90 votes, or 44 percent of the 201 votes cast for mayor. Blake Sanders led with 111 votes at 32 percent, Robert Alexander with 104 votes, 30 percent followed by Mike Moran with 75 votes, or 22 percent and write in candidates received 50 votes, with 14 percent. Debbie Young received 14 writ-in votes and Pat Black received 13 write-in votes for council. The election results will be certified later this week.
