Man charged after setting woman on fire

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at 3361 West Georgia Road in which a man reported being awakened at 3:15 am by screams in his backyard. Reports state he observed a woman on fire in his backyard and called 911. The South Greenville Fire Department, EMS and Sheriff’s Deputies responded.

The woman, who lived at 3359 West Georgia Road, was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital and on to a burn center. Investigators found evidence of a burglary at the woman’s residence and while they wre there, the Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a 911 call from the Hot Spot in Princeton from a man who was later arrested and charged with attempted murder and burglary 1st degree in connection with the incident.
