DICK POSTON
ANDERSON, SC – Samuel Lawton “Dick” Poston, 70, husband of JoAn Hair Poston, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Carlisle Nursing Center in Due West, SC.
Born in Pamplico, SC, he was a son of the late Fenseth and Mildred Bennett Poston. After relocating to Barnwell in 1960, he was a DJ, “Dick Wilson,” for WBAW Radio. He accepted a position with TDS where he was general manager until his retirement. Mr. Poston was a member of Barnwell School District 45, having served 17 years, 12 as chairman. He was active in the Barnwell United Methodist Church where he was a youth leader for seventeen years and served in various other capacities. He was a member of the Barnwell Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Lions Club and Jaycees. He was a Rotarian who was named a Paul Harris Fellow, the organization’s highest award. In addition, he volunteered for senior citizens group, Generations Unlimited, who named him Man of the Year, and was active in the Secret Santa program of Barnwell. He was proud to be the first coach of his two daughters. He relocated to Anderson in 2003 where he became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Williamston.
In addition to his wife, JoAn Hair Poston of the home, he is survived by daughters, Sherri Poston Clouse (Jeff), of Anderson, and Terri Poston Cortez (Chuck), of Pelzer; and grandchildren, Margaret Elizabeth Mathis, Katie Anne and Matthew Alan Clouse, Megan Elizabeth and Rebekah Lawton Cortez.
Mr. Poston was predeceased by a brother, Michael Poston; and sister, Lynn Poston Parrot.
Visitation was 4-6 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, at Calvary Baptist Church in Williamston with entombment following at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Anderson.

MAGGIE F. RIDDLE
Maggie Fant Riddle, 88, of Anderson, widow of Clifford Riddle, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Vergie Burnett Fant. She was a homemaker and a member of Six & Twenty Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Bobbie Griffith of Liberty and Peggy Hansen of Navarre, FL; son, David Riddle of Williamston; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ethel Hayes of Easley and Ollie Newman of Pickens.
Funeral service was held Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

CYNTHIA J. GAYLE
Cynthia J. “C.J.” Gayle, 56, wife of Harrison A. Gayle, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012.
Born in Sunderland, England, she was the daughter of Dorothy Duncan Snowball and the late William Snowball.
She was an Administrator for Upstate Dialysis and she was a Methodist.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother, are three children, William Adam Gayle, Michael Gayle and Kevin Gayle; three sisters, Elizabeth Anne Nauman of Greenville, Alison Horrox and Stephanie Snowball, both of England; a brother Richard William Snowball of England.
A memorial service was held January 12 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

BLANCHE Y. MEDLIN
Blanche Y. Medlin, 70, widow of Tommy Joe Medlin, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late John Perry and Frances Butler Young.
She retired from MacShore Classics Company and was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are three daughters, Lisa Allen of Lake City, FL, Barbara Hitt and Vicki Mauldin both of Piedmont; a son, Gary Medlin of Greenville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Jan. 14 in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

LEON M. COOLEY
PELZER—Leon Milton Cooley, 69, husband of Clara Moody Cooley, died Thursday, January 12, 2012.
Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Vance Grady and Jessie Lander Davenport Cooley. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He retired from BP Amoco and attended Beech Springs Tabernacle Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughters Lesia (Gail) Glick of Belton, Kimberly (Casey) Black of Honea Path; son Mark Cooley of Pelzer; sisters Sylvene Massey, Linda Oliver; brothers Jimmy Cooley, Edward Cooley; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Beech Springs Tabernacle Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home.

GRACE KOTHE
Grace Beatrice Seubert Kothe, 97, of 35 Pelzer Ave., widow of August Martin Kothe, died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Anmed Health Medical Center.
Born in Sioux Falls, SD, she was a daughter of the late August and Clara Duncan Seubert. She was a homemaker, a member of Custer Community Church in SD.
Surviving are daughter, Ruth Ann Ferguson of Williamston; son, Robert Kothe of Custer, SD; sister, Mildred Vandel of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
The family is at 1217 Rosewood Court, Williamston.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 5-7 pm at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, 2012 at McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer, SD.
Burial will follow in Custer Cemetery in Custer, SD.

JUNIOR C. GALLOWAY
Junior C. “J.C.” Galloway, 86, husband of Etrulia Sutherland Dickard Galloway and the late Viola Holder Galloway, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Richard Campbell Nursing Home.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Ernest “Doc” and Eva Fortner Galloway. He was a construction worker and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of United Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Galloway and Kenneth Galloway, both of Easley; one daughter, Linda Mathis of Easley; a step-daughter, Debbie Duncan of Easley; brother, William “Bill” Galloway of Piedmont; sister, Lois Guckert of Syracuse, NY; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Downtown. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

STEVEN LEE BRYANT
Steven Lee Byant, 57, of Williamston, died January 13, 2012 at Rainey Hospice House.
He was the son of the late Evelyn Neely Bryant and James Truman Bryant, Sr.
Surviving are his children, Jaime Stephens of Williamston and Michael Bryant of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Bryant and Donnie Bryant, both of Williamston.
A private celebration of life will be held.
Memorials may be made to Rainey Hospice House of Anderson.

EARLINE TINSLEY FRADY
Earline Tinsley Frady, 79, died Friday, January 13, 2012.
Born in Greenville she was the daughter of the late James Broadus Tinsley and Pearline Smith Tinsley.
She was a member of the former Tremont Avenue Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Pope and Tammy Saxon; sister, Cordelia White; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held January 16 at Bessie Road Baptist Church. Burial
followed in Cannon Memorial Park.

BETTY VAUGHAN
Florence Elizabeth “Betty” Evans Vaughan, 82, widow of Henry D. Vaughan, died Friday, January 13, 2012.
She was born in Wise County, VA to the late Blueford Arthur Evans and Naomi Franks Evans. She was a member of Grove Station Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Dewey Vaughan, Dennis Vaughan, David Vaughan; and Trent Vaughan; daughter, Glenna Thurston; brother, B.A. Niles; sister, Loretta Anderson; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Bessie Road Baptist Church. Burial followed Monday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

F.M. CAMPBELL
Falconer Marion Campbell, 92, widower of Frances Louise Lyda, died Thursday, January 12, 2012.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late William Arthur Campbell, Sr. and Mary King Campbell.
He was a former resident of Ware Place.
He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, was a retired farmer and also retired from J.P. Stevens, Dunean Plant. He was a member of Dunean Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Tony Campbell of Greenville and Terry Michael Campbell of Chapin; daughter, Judy Graham of Greenville; two sisters, Mary Ellen C. Guest of Marietta and Johnnie C. Lowry of Pelzer; two brothers, Joseph M. Campbell and Paul E. Campbell, both of Pelzer; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held January 15 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

ANN MANN LYNCH
Ann Mann Lynch, 69, wife of Anthony “Tony” Lynch, died Friday, January 13, 2012 at her home.
Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Edna Elizabeth McPherson Mann.
She was retired from the Accounting Department of WYFF 4 and the Geenville News. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy A. Bishop of Piedmont and Donna R. Porter of Piedmont; three grandchildren; two sisters, Sally J. Carroll of Rockledge, FL and Sarah A. Johnson of Inman; and two brothers, Jimmy C. Mann of Waterloo and Robert Mann of Laurens.
A memorial service was held January 15 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel.

FREDDIE LOLLIS LARK
PIEDMONT – Ida Freddie Lollis Lark, 81, of 22 Spring Street, wife of William Frank Lark, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2012.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Ruby Capps Crone. She was retired from 3M, a cosmetologist, and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of the home; daughters, Sandra Stone, Sylvia Cox, Rhonda Davis, Cynthia Rodgers, all of Piedmont; sons, Tommy Lollis of Greenville, Bill Lollis and Jack Lollis, both of Piedmont, Donald Lollis of Williamston; step-daughters, Becky Rochester of Piedmont, Sharon Sanders of Hickory Tavern; step-son, Billy Lark of Piedmont; brothers, Winfred Crone of Williamston, Jimmy Crone of Maryland; sisters, Nancy Evatt and Dot Parsons, both of Piedmont; Martha Ann Owens of Anderson; twenty-two grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brothers, Furman and Douglas Crone; step-son, Randy Lark.
The family members are at their respective homes and received friends 7-8:30pm Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services were held 1:30pm Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Porter officiating. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

DOROTHY ‘DOT’ G. HOWARD
Dorothy “Dot” Greer Howard, 81, of Greer, widow of Toy Greene Howard, died January 16, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Henry and Ola Barnette Greer, she was a retired employee of Span America and a member of Pelham First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Dana H. McCall of Pelzer; son, Anthony Howard of Greer; sister, Evelyn G. Satterfield of Greer; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Pelham First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

VELMA MITCHELL
Velma Elizabeth Rowland Mitchell, 82, formerly of Piedmont, widow of Twyman Wade Mitchell, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Hosanna Health and Rehab in Piedmont.
Born in Pendleton, she was a daughter of the late Willie Rufus and Cora Elizabeth Timms Rowland. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are daughter, Linda Wingo of Simpsonville; sons, Jimmy Mitchell of Piedmont, Jerry Mitchell of Piedmont; sister, Loreen Guthrie of Greenville.
The family members are at their respective homes and will receive friends 12:30-1:30 Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services will be held 1:30pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
