A Confederate soldier fires on Union troops and the Confederate infantry and cavalry soldiers prepare to attack as “Miss Annie Lee” sits in the background waiting to come to life during the Battle of Anderson on Sunday. The annual Civil War reenactment features a living history encampment to commemorate the last skirmish of the War Between The States East of the Mississippi which actually happened in the vicinity of Shiloh Church in Piedmont. The event included infantry camp and drill, artillery demonstrations, cavalry exercises, civilian and military period dress and vendors. Williamston’s historic cannon, “Miss Annie Lee” was also on display and participated in artillery demonstrations. (Photo by Richard Kelly)
