Palmetto Baseball takes District I title

To be champions, you have to play like champions, and that’s what Palmetto’s Diamond Mustangs have done through the first two games of the State 2-A Baseball Playoffs.

With a 2-0 first-round victory over Broome and a 15-0 no-hitter second-day drubbing of Batesburg-Leesville, the Mustangs advanced to the District 1 (Quarterfinals) Tournament Championship Finals Wednesday.

The Mustangs defeated Broome 1-0 Wednesday to sweep the District 1 title and earn a return trip to the Upper-State 2-A Championship Tournament.

They will face Strom Thurmond at Strom Thurmond this Saturday at 7 p.m..

The Palmetto Softball team defeated Number 1 Andrew Jackson 12-1 and 9-6 Wednesday to advance in 2-A softball and will host Gilbert at home this Saturday.
