Week of May 2
Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the following incidents: EASLEY – April 29- J.D. Sparkman responded to 4384 Pelzer Hwy. where Kali Marshal reported that someone stole her father Richard Marshall’s 1992 burgundy Honda Accord while she was inside the building cleaning. The loss was estimated at $3000.
April 29 – A. Land responded to Shadow Oaks Drive where a total of eight mailboxes had been destroyed during the night. A light and a sign at the entrance to the subdivision were also damaged. The total damage was estimated at $2200.
PELZER
April 29 – C.P. Huff was dispatched to Minor St. and Palmetto St. where a West Pelzer Police officer was detaining James Watt, WM, 58, 5’9″, 155 pounds, gray/blue on 8 warrants for fraudulent checks. Watt was taken into custody and transported to ACDC.
PIEDMONT
April 28- D.T. Williams was sitting in the parking lot Of Century Farms at 2100 Highway 86 when a Chrysler Sebring entered the parking lot and circled a truck and trailer with lawn equipment on it. He watched as the driver removed a weed eater from the trailer and threw it in his car. As Deputy Williams pulled up to the car and hit the blue lights, the driver jumped in and fled. Williams pursued for some distance, to 701 Old Williamston Road, where the driver, drove through the yard and jumped from the moving vehicle which subsequently hit a tree. The passenger, William Garmon, immediately put his hands out the window and was detained.
A short time later, the driver was also apprehended. A second deputy arrived to assist. The driver, Jason Hughes, aka Jason Sturghill, WM, 35, 6’, 200 pounds, brn/brn, of Toccoa GA was arrested for theft and failure to stop for a blue light. Both he and the passenger Garmon stated that Garmon had no knowledge of or part in the theft and he was allowed to leave.
Hughes was found to be wanted in Stephens County GA as well and he was placed on hold at the ACDC. The charge was aggravated stalking and a felony. Stephens County advised that they wished to extradite and a warrant was issued.
April 29 – J.E. Scott responded to St. Francis BonCour Hospital in Greenville, where Anthony Davenport, WM, 36, 5’11″, 115 pounds, brn/brn, of 124 FF Family Circle reported that his girlfriend Summer Kelley, WF, 21, 5’9″, 120 pounds, brn/brn had assaulted him, striking him several times with her cell phone and 10-15 times with a sheathed survival knife, causing several large lacerations to his arm. He drove to his mother’s home who took him to the hospital. Kelley confirmed the story and was arrested for criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
April 29 – G.M Guthrie was dispatched to 2310 River Rd. to The Skate Place, where Zachary McAlister reported that while his car was parked there, someone broke in and stole two speakers and an amplifier worth $350.
April 30- S.L. Steward responded to The Landscape Market at 2605 Hwy. 153 where Lewis Crittenden reported that someone had entered the yard and stolen six Japanese maples valued at $3500.
WILLIAMSTON
April 28 – J.D. Sparkman responded to 1109 Welcome Rd. where Alan Ridgeway reported the theft of a 1997 Green Honda Accord from his house. The loss was estimated at $6000.
April 29- C.P. Huff was dispatched to 28 Dacus Dr. where Steven Burroughs reported the theft of a backpack and computer from his car. The loss was estimated at $400.
April 29- G.M. Guthrie responded to 234 Butler Road where Dustin Holden reported the breaking and entering into his residence and the theft of several firearms, including a .45 auto pistol, a custom AR-15 rifle with a Stagg lower receiver and an MP4 upper receiver. A .44 magnum hunting rifle was also taken, as well as $300 worth of Home Depot gift cards and over $2100 in cash.
Total loss was estimated at $5500.
April 30 – J.G. Williams responded to 216 J. Maynard Rd. where James Maynard reported that someone had entered his recently burned residence and stolen at least a dozen antique collectible dolls, a red lawn trailer, a green plastic john boat, electronics and other items. Total loss was estimated at $4520.
April 30 –M.B. Gambrell responded to 105 McAlister Rd. where Beverly Burton reported the theft of the contents of two jewelry boxes in her home. The loss was estimated at $850.
