Tri-County Technical College is holding its third annual Tri-County 5K Road Race Saturday, May 19, at 8 a.m. at its Anderson Campus. The race starts and ends at the Anderson Campus located at 511 Michelin Boulevard. Walkers are welcome. All race proceeds will benefit the programs and services of the Anderson Campus.
Cash awards will go to the top three finishers in the Open and Masters categories. Also, there will be age group awards for the top three finishers in each five-year category beginning with age 9 and under.
Interested persons can get additional information and register online at www.tctc.edu/race. Online registration ends at noon on Friday, May 18.
Entry fees are $20 (online registration, plus a $2.50 processing fee) for those who register by May 14. After May 14, the entry fee is $25 plus the processing fee. Walk-in registration on Race Day is $28 Race Day (no t-shirt or race pack guaranteed for walk-ins).
“This is our third year, and we are expecting another great event,” said Rebecca Eidson, director of public relations and communications. “The race is part of the S.C. Palmetto Grand Prix and the course is certified by the U.S. Track and Field Association. We also have great door prizes, tech t-shirts and race-packs for the runners.”
“This is a great event for the community,” said Tim Bowen, Anderson Campus director. “We attract competitive runners from the local community and across the state. Last year we added a Walker’s Division and brought in a whole new group of people who simply wanted to take a healthy, brisk walk, make new friends and enjoy the excitement of a race-day environment.”
“We are fortunate to have community sponsors who help make this event possible,” added Eidson. To date, sponsors include Michelin North America, Duke Energy, HMR Veterans Services, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, NHC, Electric City Printing, Crow’s Corporate Promotions, BB&T, Michael Cunningham and Duke Energy.
