Authorities capture one of two escapees

The Oconee County Sheriff’s office captured one of two individuals who escaped from the Anderson County Detention Center Sunday night. Oconee County deputies responded to the area of Wells Highway just outside of Seneca after receiveng a call about a suspicious male. After a foot chase, Sgt. David Smith of OCSO, captured Travis Eugene Foster, 27, of 310 Windfield Dr., Anderson. Foster was transported to Anderson County Detention Center where he was charged with the escape.

Authorities are still searching for the second escapee, Jason Bradley Hughes, 35, of 132 Dubignon Dr,. Toccoa, Ga . Hughs is descibed as a white male, Ht: 6’3”, 240 lbs, medium build, brown hair , bronw eyes, with short facial hair.

The incident began at approximately 11p.m. Sunday night when Foster and Hughes escaped from the Anderson County Detention Center by chipping out a block of a cell in the older portion of the facility. After further investigation, it was determined that the two escapees used a metal table brace as the tool to penetrate the mortar in the cell. This gained access to an office where the inmates escaped by pushing out a window air conditioning unit. They then scaled a perimeter fence. Warrants have been obtained for escape.
