Rachel Yuki Wyatt, 17, of Piedmont, will be among fifty-three of the country’s most talented, bright and beautiful young women, ages 13 to 17, competing in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen (MAOTeen) competition, the “little sister” to Miss America.

Representing South Carolina, Wyatt will be among a remarkable mix of honor students, debate champions, singers, dancers, cheerleaders, thespians, athletes, musicians and writers to compete for this coveted title and $300,000 in scholarship assistance.

The competition will take place August 14-18 at the Linda Chapin Theater inside the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Promoting scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America’s teens, the MAOTeen contestants will be judged on personal interview, talent, evening wear, lifestyle & fitness in active wear, and on-stage question.

Wyatt, a senior honor student at Wren High School, is class president and member of the Beta Club. She is the recipient of the Presidential volunteer service award and the Duke of Edinburgh silver award.

Wyatt is promoting dance therapy as a platform issue throughout her year of service and will be performing a lyrical dance for the talent portion of the MAOTeen competition.

The contestants will be in Orlando from Saturday, August 11th through Saturday, August 18th for rehearsals and activities surrounding the pageant.

They will visit Planet Hollywood on August 12th and Medieval Times on August 13th. They will also participate in events including the star-studded Evening of Stars Extravaganza, which will be held at the Rosen Centre Hotel and will have several opportunities to train with professionals in the pageant and entertainment fields.
