SARA COOLEY, ROGER DALE CHAMPAN, TONY DYER, RUSSELL ‘BUCK’ MCABEE, ALAN COX, J.B. ‘BUDDY’ HEWINS, JR., BONNIE ELLINGTON WILLIAMS, JAMES O. BRYANT, RUCELLA RAY  COCHRAN

SARA COOLEY
Sara J. Cartee Cooley, 78, widow of Billy Mac Cooley, Sr., of Pelzer, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Warren B. and Agnes Lollis Cartee.  She retired from Kemet Electronics, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer.
Surviving are her children, Teresa Thompson of Pelzer, Mac “Tiny” Cooley of Inman, and Kathy Flowers of Norcross, GA; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 18 at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 New Hope Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.

 

ROGER DALE CHAMPAN
Roger Dale Chapman, 45, of West Pelzer, died August 16, 2012.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of a son of Lalen Douglas Chapman and the late Ethel Simmons Chapman.
Surviving in addition to his father of Pelzer are his girlfriend, Lora Gray of Pelzer; twin sister, Robbie Smith of the home; brothers, Bill Chapman of Pelzer, Johnny Chapman of Westminster, Steve Chapman of Honea Path.
Funeral services were held August 18 in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

 

TONY DYER
Tony Eugene Dyer, 47, of Piedmont died August 14, 2012.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Janie Irene Evitt Dyer and the late Harve Porter Dyer, Jr.  He was formerly employed with Evitt Septic Tank.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Piedmont are daughters, Chase Dyer of Pelzer and Kristin Morris of Travelers Rest; sisters, Brandy Duncan of Easley and Angela Freeman of Piedmont; two granddaughters.
Funeral services were held August 18 in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Burial followed in the Evitt family cemetery in North Carolina.

 

RUSSELL ‘BUCK’ MCABEE
Russell “Buck” McAbee, 89, of Piedmont, husband of Evelyn Carroll McAbee, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at his home.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Louie and Lola Mae Gambrell McAbee. He retired from P.E. Collins Electrical and was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are; three sons, Michael McAbee, Barry McAbee and Randy McAbee; a daughter, Darlene Norton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 18 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church. Entombment followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens-Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.

ALAN COX
Alan Joseph Cox, 48, of Pelzer, husband of Robin Ballard Cox, died Friday, August 17, 2012.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Roy Woodrow and Cornelia Mitchell Cox.  He was an employee of Michelin.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Ryan Cox of Piedmont, Devin Cox of Pelzer; daughter, Hannah Cox, of the home; sisters, Elaine Joshlin, Laura Poole and Linda Parker; brother, Tim Cox; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of Ed and Willene Ballard, 511 Old Williamston Road, Piedmont.

 

J.B. ‘BUDDY’ HEWINS, JR.
J.B. “Buddy” Hewins, Jr., 60, of Greenville, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his home. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late J.B. Hewins, Sr. and Helen Davis Hewins.
Surviving are daughter, Joshka BarShun Hewins of Greenville; three grandchildren; sister, Kathy Burton of Piedmont; brothers, Walter Hewins of Fountain Inn and Wallace Hewins of Greenville.
Funeral service was held Sunday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

 

BONNIE ELLINGTON WILLIAMS
Bonnie Ellington Williams of Pendleton, widow of Paul Revis Williams, died August 17, 2012.
Surviving are children, Kathy Williams of the home, Scott Williams of Piedmont and Ardeth Dunlap of Piedmont; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Betty J. Barnette of Anderson.
Graveside services were held Monday at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

JAMES O. BRYANT
Dr. James Orr “Jimmy” Bryant, 71, of Clemson, husband of Irene Walters Bryant, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at AnMed Health in Anderson.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late James O. “Jake” and Doris Sears Bryant.
He retired from Auburn University and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a sister, Judy Roper of Pelzer.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

 

RUCELLA RAY  COCHRAN
Rucella Ray Cochran, 87, of Abbeville, wife of the late Julius Eakin Cochran, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Hospice House in Greenwood.
Born in Madison County, GA, she was daughter of the late Thomas G. and Lora Spearman Ray.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda C. Stickles of Elloree, Sandy C. Milford of Abbeville, and Judy C. James of Piedmont, son, Julius ‘Bud’ Cochran, III of Abbeville; brother, Kenneth E. Ray of Riverdale, GA; sister, Grace Balchin of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 21 at the Warrenton Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
