JACKIE ODOM
Jackie Rogers Odom, 74, of 917 Old River Rd., Piedmont, husband of Emily Creech Odom, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Orangeburg County, he was a son of the late Walter Jackson and Neola Sanford Odom.  He was retired from Greenville County and a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are sons, Dale R. Odom and Allen Odom, both of Piedmont; stepmother, Margaret Odom of Pelzer; sisters, Agnes Hutto of Hilda, SC, Patricia Koop of Beaufort, SC, Doris Cosby of Walterboro, SC; stepsister, Beth Creamer of Anderson; brothers, W. Steve Odom of Lexington, TN; Gene Odom of Pelzer; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, September 7, 2012 from 1-2 pm at West Pelzer Baptist Church.  Funeral services followed at 2pm with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

KIM HALL
Kimberly Ann Murphy Hall, 46, of 103 Oakland Terrace, Williamston, wife of Wayne Mark Hall, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at her home.
Born in Asheville, NC, she was a daughter of Patricia Wyatt Murphy of Williamston and the late Joel Holbert Murphy.  She was a homemaker and a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and  mother, she is survived by sons, Johnny Mewbourn, Joel Hall, Mark Hall, all of the home; sister, Debbie Clardy of Piedmont.
Funeral services were held Sept. 8 at Beaverdam Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

BETTY MOORE
Betty Christine Turner Moore, 82, of Belton, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at home.
She was born in Abbeville to Arthur and Katie Willis Turner. She worked at Singer Plant in Anderson.
She is survived by three daughters, Susan O’Dell, Chris  McKinley, and Kathy Dobbins, 2 brothers, Ellison Turner and Julius Turner, 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Theron Moore.
The service celebrating her life was held on Friday, Sept 7 at Neals Creek Baptist Church. Entombment was held at Forest Lawn. Donations may be made to Neals Creek Baptist Church.

JOHNNY CHANDLER
Johnny Wayne Chandler, 77, of Piedmont, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Greeneville, TN, he was a son of the late Wallace and Bertie Dockery Chandler. He was retired from K&K Construction and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his companion, Evelyn of Spartanburg; daughters, Mary Beth Buchanan of Pelzer, Melissa McMahan of Piedmont, Ann Yarborough of Chesnee; sons, Terry Chandler of Pelzer, Bobby Chandler of Lillington, NC; stepson, Bill Elgin of Honea Path; sisters, Dorothy Oates and Ruth Chandler, both of Marietta, Bernice Cole of Cleveland; brother, Steve Chandler of Marietta; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

WALLACE CANNON
Wallace Wilbur Cannon, 89, husband of Nancy Pruitt Cannon of Anderson, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at his home.
Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Carl Wilbur Cannon and the late Edith Gertrude Davis Cannon. He was a veteran of  World War II and operated theaters in Pelzer, Pendleton and Anderson. He was a member of Asbury Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife.
Funeral service was held Sept. 7 at Asbury Baptist Church. Interment followed at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemtery with military honors.

TAMMIE CHASTEEN ATWOOD
Tammie Chasteen Atwood, 51, wife of James Kenneth Atwood, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Sybil Culbertson Chasteen and the late William G. Chasteen.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville. She retired from the School District of Greenville County after 24 years of teaching at Ellen Woodside Elementary School.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are three sons, Will, Andy and Hunter Atwood, all of Piedmont; two brothers, Steve Chasteen of Anderson and Terry Chasteen of Piedmont.
The funeral service was held on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church Simpsonville.

ROCK BARNHILL
Robert Ellerbe ‘Rock’ Barnhill, 77, beloved husband for 57 years of Nena Hair Barnhill, passed away August 29, 2012 at home.
Born in Conway, Rock was a son of the late William Melton and Sadie Allen Barnhill. He served in the US Navy and was retired from The Prudential. He was an avid hunter.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Robin Thompson of Sanford, NC, Chloe Barnhill of Eaasley, and Robert Edward Barnhill of Pelzer; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Barnhill.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Sat., Sept. 1 at Palmetto Mortuary of SC, 1313A Miller Rd., Greenville, SC 29607. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the cemetery fund at Cool Spring Methodist Church, 3051 Hwy. 319, Aynor, SC 29511.

PAUL KELLEY
Paul Emerson Kelley, 79, of Pelzer, husband of Jane Cothran Kelley, died Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Washington, PA, he was a son of the late Alvie Earl and Marian Belle Martin Kelley.  He retired from the Bayer Corporation.  He was a member of Washington Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Paul E. Kelley, Jr. of Simpsonville, and the Rev. Jason Jay Kelley of Tifton, GA; daughter, Dianna Jane Spears of Amissville, VA; sisters, Sara Ames of 84, PA, and Patricia Mellars of Birmingham, AL; brother, Ray Kelley of 84, PA; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 8, at Washington Baptist Church.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

FAY DEAN SR.
Fay Lawrence Dean, Sr., 75, of Williamston, widower of Kathryn Knowlton Dean, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Afton, NY, he was a son of the late Milton Page Dean and the late Elizabeth Mary Babcock Dalrymple.  He retired from Allied Waste in Duncan.
He is survived by his children, Walter Dean of Moncks Corner, Debra Dean of Duncan, Fay L. Dean, Jr. of Williamston, Linda Vaughn of Simpsonville, Lori Sulfridge of Richmond, KY, Tammy Powell of Pickens, and Frank Dean of Easley; brothers, Rodney Dean of Bainbridge, NY, Robert Lewis and Sam Dalrymple, both of Williamston; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 8, at the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Graceland East Memorial Park.

LARRY MADDOX
Larry Ross Maddox, 71, of Greenville, husband of Kim Shoemaker Maddox, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Jimmy and Irene Mize Maddox.  He was retired from Steel Heddle and a Baptist.  He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are sons, David Maddox of Clemson, Jon Maddox of Lexington; daughter, Rachel Foster of Pelzer; brothers, Donnie Maddox and Bobbie Maddox, both of Pelzer; sister, Brenda Hill of Greenville; five grandchildren.
Funeral service was held  Sunday, September 9, at Augusta Road United Methodist Church.
Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

ROBERT TYLER
Robert Edward Tyler, 80, of Liberty, husband of Patsy Heatherly Tyler, died Sunday, Sept., 9, 2012 at his home.
Born in Clayton, Ga, he was a son of the late Nelson and Della Ramey Tyler. He was former owner/operator of Tyler Machine and Tool. He was a member of Zion Assembly Church of God, Greenville and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are children, Beverly Vayne of Travelers Rest, Robert E. “Bob” Tyler of Easley, Sandra Wright of Greenville; stepchildren, Debora Buckner of Liberty and Linda Barbare of Piedmont; siblings, Gladys Duckett and Kenneth Tyler; one grandson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Zion Assembly Church of God, Greenville. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

VICTOR BOYD
Victor Craig “Sheep Dog” Boyd, 54, died September 7, 2012 at his home.
The son of Sadie and the late Perry Eugene Boyd, he was a member of The Forestville Baptist Church in Travelers Rest.
Surviving are his son, Dylan Boyd of the home; sisters, Cindy Fowler of Mauldin, Janet Selman of Duncan and Denise Cooley of Piedmont; brothers, Steve Boyd of Pelzer and Mike Boyd of Simpsonville. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Faye Boyd.
Funeral services were held Monday in the Chapel of Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Wells Fargo, the Mauldin Branch to help his son Dylan.

BLANCHE CONNOR
Blanche Powers Connor, 94, of Pelzer, widow of William Eugene “W.E.” Connor, died Thursday, September 6, 2012.
Born in Haywood County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Luther Richard and Bessie Mehaffey Powers. She  retired as a dietician at Woodmont High School.  She was a member of Washington Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Aurelia Bennett of Anderson, Patricia McLean of Columbia; son, Ted Connor of Honea Path; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and three great- great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9 at Washington Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

GLENDA G. HANVEY
Glenda Gayle Burdette Hanvey, 64, of Easley, wife of Winston Paul Hanvey, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of Beatrice Johnson Burdette of Anderson. She was a retired cosmotologist from Foothills Presbyterian Home in Easley.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are a son, Paul Hanvey, II of Easley; two daughters, Dawn Hanvey Ball of Taylors and Wendy Hanvey Hulsey of Piedmont; brother, Donnie Burdette of Anderson; twin sister, Brenda Stamps of Anderson; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.

JOHN MCABEE
John Louis McAbee, 90, husband of Becky Pickron McAbee died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Leroy and Vivian Landreth McAbee and was retired from Mac’s Radiator as owner and operator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Becky, are daughter, Marya James of Seneca; brothers, Edward McAbee of Pelzer and David McAbee of VA; sisters, Mattie Andrews of Fountain Inn, Elizabeth Graham of Seneca, and Ellen Dacus of Pendleton; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

ROY MEDLIN
Roy Tyrone Medlin, 71, of Pelzer, husband of Rhonda Head Medlin, died Saturday, September 8, 2012.
He was a son of the late Lester Lee Medlin and Rosalee Landers Medlin Smith and a U. S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are children, Michael Medlin, Olivia Paxton and Mandi McDermott; siblings, Troy Medlin, Robert Smith, Ginger Russell and Sandra Celis; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

JEWELL MORTON
PIEDMONT – Nellie Jewell Morton, 80, of 15 Kentwood Lane, died Monday, September 10, 2012, at Dayspring Health and Rehab of Simpsonville.
Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Furman Morton and Lida Mae Sanders Doran.  She retired from J. P. Stevens, Estes Plant.
Surviving are sons, George Fowler (Deborah) and Mack Fowler, both of Williamston, Furman Fowler and Jerry Fowler (Vickie), both of Piedmont; brother, James Morton (Dee), of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a grandson.
Visitation will be held 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with funeral services immediately following at the funeral home chapel.
The family is at the home of a son, Jerry Fowler, 15 Kentwood Lane, Piedmont.

PELZER – Mary Louise Orchard Keefe, 74, of 119 Arden Road, widow of Dennis Harold Keefe, Jr., died Thursday, September 6, 2012, at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Norwalk, CT, she was the daughter of the late John and Charlotte Mandella Orchard.  She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her children, Deborah Booth, Daniel Keefe, David Keefe, Donald Keefe, Dennis Keefe, III, Doreen Montepara and Dawn Riccardi.
A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Anderson.

JERRY MIKE VAUGHN
Jerry Mike Vaughn, 67, of Easley, died Monday, September 10, 2012 at his home.
Born in Rollins, MO, he was the son of the late Sam and Sybil G. Vaughn. He was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church.
Surviving are: brother, Robin Vaughn of Powdersville.
Graveside service will be held 12pm Thursday at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Burial will follow.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday from 10:30am until 11:30am at Cox Funeral Home of Belton.
