BRENT WADDELL
Brent Edwin Waddell, 37, of Pelzer, husband of Renee Dallin Waddell, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of Darris Edwin Waddell and Victoria Simpson. He was employed with the Presbyterian Home in Easley and attended New Spring Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are daughter, Bryanna Waddell; grandmother, Katherine Simpson; sisters, Nacole Calhoun, Sherry Guthrie; brother, John Curtis Yonts.
Funeral services were held Sept. 21 in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MAURICE E. CAMP
Maurice Everett Camp, 69, of Honea Path, husband of Laurie Rhodes Camp, died Friday, September 21, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Greenville County, the son of the late Morris Welborn and Minnie Cloys Simpson Camp. He retired from Cryovac in Simpsonville  and was a Commissioner with the Dunklin Fire Department. He was a farmer and a Baptist.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Charles Camp of Honea Path and Eddie Camp of Pelzer; daughter, Rhonda “Ziggy” Spearman of Honea Path; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were held Monday in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

VERA ‘GRANNY’ EVANS
Vera “Granny” Childers Evans, 77, of Belton, widow of Lewis Ray Evans, died Friday, September 21, 2012, at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Ransom W. and Mariel Church Childers.  She retired from Union Carbide and National Electric, and was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Piedmont.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Turner of Belton; son, Keith Evans of Townville; sisters, Margaret Moog of Greenville, Betty Camarillo of Abilene, TX, and Sylvia Davis of Anderson; brother, Kenneth Childers of Piedmont; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 24 at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery in Greenville.
Memorials may be made to the Rehoboth Baptist Church Building Fund, 1620 Old Pelzer Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.

GILFORD COY REID
Gilford Coy Reid, 86, of Piedmont, widower of Bobbie Greer Reid, died Sunday, September 23, 2012.
Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Gilford Lee and Lillie Leona Gillespie Reid.
He is survived by three sisters, Frances Holder, Faye Tinker, and Pauline Clardy Thompson, plus several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Essie Kennedy and Vera Cromer, and brothers Roy, Willie, and Waldo Reid.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel in Greenville Memorial Gardens with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Barry Manley. Entombment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Care Hospice, 107 Lovett Drive, Greenville, SC 29601.

ANGIE SCROGGS STRICKLAND
Angie Scroggs Strickland, 46, of Williamston, died Sept. 19, 2012 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Hayesville, NC, she was a member of Midway Community Church.
She is survived by mother, Sally Thompson Chandler; children, Tasha and Dylan Strickland; one granddaughter; and brothers, Greg and Chuck Scroggs.
She was predeceased by her father, John Scroggs.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Midway Community Church.

TOMMY ALVERSON
Thomas Arthur ‘Tommy’ Alverson, 64, died September 23, 2012 in Hendersonville, NC.
Surviving are three children, Penny Newton of Anderson, Donna Evans of Anderson, and Curtis Bowen of Pelzer; two stepsons, Jeff Bartelt of Louisville, KY, and Mike Bartelt of WI; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Ralph Alverson of Greenville.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 at Cremation Society of SC, 328 Dupont Dr., Greenville.

ROBERT GREEN
Robert David Green, 49, of Pelzer, son of Jan Dearman Green and Shirley Nelson Philyaw,  died Monday, September 24, 2012, at AnMed Medical Center.
Born in College Park, Maryland, he was self-employed as a landscaper and was a member of Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle.
In addition to his parents, both of West Pelzer, he is survived by his wife, Donna Hill Green of Williamston; sisters, Janice McClain of Pelzer; Donna Johnson of Piedmont; Palla Smith of Greenville; and brother, Jamie Green of Easley.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary Chapel.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

SHIRLEY ZOE STEELE ELROD
Shirley Zoe Steele Elrod, 92, of Powdersville, wife of C.C. Pete Elrod, died Sunday, September 23, 2012.
Born in Colorado Springs, CO, she was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Ruth Freeman Steele.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Sue Hooper, Jean Martin, and Penny Evans; son, Kay Elrod; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sept. 26 at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

ELBA ARLENA CALVERT MCLANE
Elba Arlena Calvert McLane, wife of the late Foster Bradley McLane Jr. died Monday, September 24, 2012.
Born in Pelzer she was the daughter of the late Joe Ephriam and Julia Hazeltine Young Calvert. She was a member of the Abbeville/Mt. Carmel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by sons SGM (Ret) Foster Bradley McLane III of Spartanburg, James Riley McLane of Abbeville, and Joseph Calvert McLane of Hartwell, GA; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 27 in Melrose Cemetery, Hwy. 28 N. and Hwy. 71 W. in Abbeville.

WILLIS CENTER
PIEDMONT – Willis Kay Center, 92, of 1450 Old Pelzer Rd., widower of Willie Sue Chapman Center, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012 at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Willis Avery and Minnie Iola Burns Center.  He was a self-employed plumber.
Surviving are children, Charles Center (Mattie) of Liberty, Linda Bell (Olin) of Piedmont, Pete Center of Pelzer, Ronnie Center (Barbara) of Pelzer, Gary Center (Martha) of Piedmont, Susan Bane (Alan) of Naples, FL, Teresa Jackson (Rellon) of Pelzer, Donna Cooley (Darrin) of Williamston; sister, Shula Bell Lovern of Alabama; thirty-four grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; ten great-great- grandchildren.
He was predeceased by sons, Kenneth Center and Larry Center.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 28, 2012 in the funeral home chapel with grandsons, Mr. Trent Center and Mr. James Center officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Piedmont.

PAUL RICHEY, SR.
PELZER – Francis Paul Richey, Sr., husband of 66 years to Euzelia (Boots) Moon Richey, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Hyren Washington and Frances Clardy Richey.  He was a farrier, retired from the Kendall Company after 45 years of service and later retired from Chris Chambers Construction.  Mr. Richey was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Brenda R. and W. L. Cantrell, Jr., of Williamston; and grandchildren, Kim C. Lida and her husband, Mike, of Pelzer, William L. Cantrell, III and his wife, Krystal, of Williamston.  The joy and sunshine of his life were his great-grandsons, Steven Michael and Kevin Paul Lida, and William L. Cantrell, IV.  He is also survived by brother, Jim Richey (Wanda), of Anderson; sisters, Etta Ruff, of Fayetteville, NC, Madge McKenzie, of Orlando, FL, Marjorie Taylor, of Myrtle Beach, and Barbara Richey, of Greenville.
He was predeceased by son, Francis Paul Richey, Jr.; brothers, Jerry and Byrum Richey; and sisters, Thrace Burnett and Sandra Jean Richey.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with burial following at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

PHIL WEBB, JR.
Phillip Norman Webb, Jr., 48, of Pelzer, husband of Deborah Ann Loy Webb, died Monday, September 24, 2012, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of Joyce Hooper Webb, of Pelzer, and the late Phillip Norman Webb, Sr.  He was an aircraft painter and a Baptist.
In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by sons, Charlie Pace of Anniston, AL, Lucas Webb, Phillip Webb and Nicholas Webb, all of the home; sisters, Audrey Hill, Patricia Holcombe and Susan Spearman, all of Pelzer, and Donna Greenburg of Asheville, NC; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 27 at the funeral home chapel with burial following at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
