JAMES TODD
ELLENBURG
James Todd Ellenburg, 47, husband of Tina Ellenburg, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Betty Ellenburg and the late James Alton Ellenburg.
In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by son Tyler Ellenburg; brother, Larry Ellenburg; and sister, Peggy Brown.
A memorial service was held at Piedmont Heights Baptist Church on Friday, October 5.

NED CRAWFORD
George “Ned” Crawford, 85, of Abbeville, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Mountain Home Health and Rehab in Hendersonville, NC.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Robert E. Crawford and Blanche Pruitt Crawford.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired farmer and a member of Little River Baptist Church.
He is survived by two brothers, James Carroll Crawford of Atlanta, GA and Gus Crawford of Pelzer.
A graveside service was held Oct. 5 in the Little River Baptist Church Cemetery.

RAYMOND FINLEY
Raymond Finley, 83, of Anderson, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Toccoa, GA, he was the son of the late John A. and Inez Weaver Finley. He was a retired businessman and attended Forest Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy W. Finley; five children, Janice Willis of Starr, Judy Breazeale, Terry Finley, Douglas Finley, and Brian Finley, all of Anderson; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jeannette Chambers of Piedmont and Helen Thompson of Anderson.
Funeral service was held Thursday, at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel. Burial followed in Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

JOE WALDROP
Joseph Alex Waldrop, 80, of Anderson, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Franklin, NC, he was the son of the late Ralph and Helen Henderson Waldrop. He was a retired pharmacist at Propp Drugs and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn M. Waldrop of the home; one son, Larry David Waldrop of Williamston; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, Furman Waldrop of Aiken.
Graveside services were held Friday at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

REV. ROY EDWARD PORTER
Rev. Roy Edward Porter, 69, of Piedmont, husband of Jeanette Harris Porter, died Thursday, October 4, 2012.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late W.F. and Hazel Swilling Porter.
He was the Senior Pastor of Liberty Ministries Church International.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter, Rhonda J. Smith.
Funeral service was held October 7 at Liberty Ministries Church International. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

CELIA CHAPMAN
Celia Chapman, 88, of Williamston, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012.
Funeral service was held October 8 at New Prospect Baptist Church in Williamston. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery, Greenville.

MARY JO EDWARDS
Mary Jo Edwards, 67, of Pelzer, died Friday, October 5, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Belton, she was the daughter of the late Tommie Dan Aye Sr. and the late Maggie Aye.
She worked at Gerber Children’s Wear and was a member of Welfare Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James Edwards Jr. of Pelzer; daughters, Ouida Johnson of Pelzer, Kisha Gandsy; ; and sons, Robert Edwards of Belton and Tyrone Edwards of Charlotte, NC; and a host of grandchildren.
Funeral services were held October 9 at Welfare Baptist Church in Belton. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

SANDY GARRETT
Sandra “Sandy” Kay Bryant Biddle Garrett, 71, of Piedmont, widow of Kenneth Lee Garrett, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Junior Kirksey and Ruby Caroline Linder Bryant.  She was twice married, first to the late Rev. Larry William Biddle, and she attended Life Church in Piedmont.
Surviving are daughter, Gina Mulligan of Williamston; sons, Timothy Lee Biddle of Easley, and Larry William Biddle, Jr. of Patrick Springs, VA; sisters, Norma Araujo, Arlene Alexander, and Sue Kent; brother, Buddy Bryant; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday at Memory Gardens, 586 Isaqueena Trail, Clemson.

BILL VAUGHAN
William “Bill” Vaughan, 79, of Pelzer, widower of Bonnie Mae Davenport Vaughan, died Saturday, October 6, 2012, at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Vardry Mattison and Mamie Lollis Vaughan.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force; he also worked for Davis Electrical and American Security.  He was a member of the Bethel Church of God of Abrahamic Faith.
He is survived by his son, Mark Vaughan of the home; and his brother and sister-in-law, James “Ray” and Pete Vaughan, of Pelzer.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Bethel Church of God of Abrahamic Faith.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22038-1132, or to a charity of one’s choice.

BUTCH WILLIAMS
Larry “Butch” Richard Williams, 64, of Williamston died, Friday, October 6, 2012.
Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Otto Williams and Ruth Vermillion Williams Burns.  A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was also employed by Kay Roofing.
He is survived by one son, Kendall; one daughter, Tammy; sisters, Judy Frasier of Williamston, and Janice Hammond of Marion, NC; and brother, Kenneth Williams of Belton.
There are no services planned at this time.

DANIEL ELLIS, SR.
WILLIAMSTON—Daniel Moore Ellis, Sr., 71, of 3 Tucker Street, husband of Linda “Lynne” Compton Ellis, died Friday, October 5, 2012, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Calhoun Falls, SC, he was a son of the late Louie Clyde and Sallie Moore Ellis.  He formerly worked at Shaw Industries in Dalton, GA, and was a member and deacon at Calvary Baptist Church where he was also president of the XYZ group.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by his son, Andy Ellis and his wife Beth, of Williamston; daughter-in-law Sherry Ellis, of Blairsville, GA; brother Eddie Ellis, of Piedmont; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by son Dan Ellis, Jr., and brothers, Mose and Gary Ellis.
Visitation were 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Gray Mortuary.  Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.  Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family is at the home.

PHILIP WYMAN JOHNSON
Philip Wyman Johnson, 74, of Greenville, widower of Tempie Bond Johnson died Thursday, October 4, 2012.
Born in Simpsonville, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mittie Barnett Johnson.
He was retired from W.W. Grainger and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are three daughters, Debbie Taylor and Donna Spearman, both of Greenville, and Ashley Johnson of Easley; a son, Mike Johnson of Pelzer; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held October 7 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

KAREN CHARLENE SELFRIDGE
Karen Charlene Selfridge, 56, of Piedmont, died on October 5, 2012.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ann and Richard Franks of Piedmont.
Surviving are daughters, Sue-Ann Eaton and De-Ann Fosky; son, Shane Black, all of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; sisters, Donna Anderson, Hilda Campbell of Greenwood, and Pam Bowers of Fort Meyers, FL; broher, Richard Michael Franks of Piedmont.
Private family services were held.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

ELIZABETH MCDANIEL
Elizabeth McDaniel, 85, died Friday, October 5, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Hassie Cook Croft.
Surviving are daughters, Willie Evans of the home, Christine Sullivan, Rebecca McDaniel, and Betty Jean McDaniel, all of Greenville, Hassie Atkins of Mauldin; sons, Harold McDaniel, Jimmy McDaniel, Ronnie McDaniel, and Stevie Eugene McDaniel, all of Greenville; Roosevelt McDaniel of Williamston, and Chester McDaniel of the home; sister, Bernice Croft of Greenville; 40 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Wednesday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Graceland West Cemetery.

BOBBY WALLACE
PELZER – Bobby Joe Wallace, 82, of 23 McCaughrin Street, husband of Betty Jo Watson Wallace, died Monday, October 8, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Claude Wallace and Sadie Chasteen Smith.  He was retired from Celanese, a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are daughters, Judy Garrett of Pelzer, Charlotte Morgan of Woodruff; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Thompson of GA, Pat Loveland of Pelzer, Rachel Neely of Pelzer; brother, Tommy Smith of Easley.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Poppe and a sister, Cathy Raines.
Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. James Avant officiating.
Burial will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

DOROTHY MITCHELL
PIEDMONT – Dorothy Owens Mitchell, 78, formerly of Piedmont, widow of Billy Vernon Mitchell, died Monday, October 8, 2012, at Dayspring Health and Rehab of Simpsonville.
Born in West Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Carl William and Grace Henderson Owens.  She was married first to the late Arthur Chapman Keech, retired from Eastern Distribution, and was a member of Waycross Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Mark Lowder of Sumter, Anthony Keech of Piedmont, Tena Cobb of Clarksville, TN, and Tammy Jewell of Simpsonville; brothers, Robert, Tommy and Barney Owens; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Waycross Baptist Church with funeral services following at 2 p.m.  Burial will be at the church cemetery.
The family is at her son’s home.

LAURA JEAN FELTS
Laura Jean Felts, 76, of Laurens, wife of the late Frank D. Felts, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at National Healthcare Center in Laurens.
Born in Pelzer, she was the daughte of the late Kirb and Myrtle Brown Ross. She was retired from Roses Department Store and a member of Laurens Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her children, Debbie F. McDowell of Gray Court, Tammy F. Walker, Franklin D. Felts, Jr., and Timothy Mark Felts, all of Laurens; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 11 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her daughter Tammy Walker, 236 Fleming Mill Rd. and will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

MARJORIE DIANN FREEMAN
Marjorie Diann Freeman, 60, of Piedmont, wife of Danny Freeman, died Monday, October 8, 2012.
Born in Greensboro, NC, she was a daughter of Irisa Earwood Taylor and the late John Emory Taylor.
She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Communion Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother, are two daughters, Risa Combs of Inman and Rachel Freeman of AL; two sons, Benjaman Freeman and Randall Freeman, both of Greenville; two sisters, Louett Triplett of Austin, TX and Louann Ramey of Dallas, TX; two brothers, David Taylor of Charlotte, NC and Danny Taylor of Gray Court; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 11 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
The family will be at the residence of her daughter, Risa Combs, 201 Cochran Rd. Inman.

EVELYN E. WILLIAMS
Final services for Evelyn E. Williams, Piedmont, former guidance counselor at Lincoln High School, Taylors, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11 at the cemetery of Enoree Fork Baptist Church, 100 Enoree Rd. off Old Spartanburg Hwy, Greer.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Greenville.
She was the daughter of the late Minnie Young and Willie Williams.
