A Candlelighting Service of Remembrance was held Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Williamston Cemetery. The event was organized by the Williamston Cemetery Committee and the Town of Williamston. Former Mayor Phillip Clardy headed a brief ceremony and led the crowd in singing a verse of the hymn Silent Night prior to the lighting of the candles. Hundreds of candles throughout the cemetery were lit for the service. Members of the Cemetery Committee include Johnnie Bell, Julie Cole, Lib Ford, Pamela Owens, Jane Tucker and Willie Wright.
