Williamston Town Council will consider what to do about the town’s administrator during their town council meeting tonight (Monday, Jan. 7) at 6 p.m. The issue is one of five items on the agenda for the meeting.

Williamston Town Administrator Phyllis Lollis was suspended from her position until the new mayor and council discuss the position.

Newly installed mayor Dr. R. Mack Durham took the action last Wednesday shortly after being sworn in as the town’s new mayor.

The reduction is part of Durham’s plan to bring the town’s finances “back into the black” by the end of the fiscal year in June.

As part of his plan, which calls for the elimination of two high paying salaries, Administrator Phyllis Lollis has been “suspended” and Public Works Director Tim Hood has been fired.

The mayor said that administrator has been suspended with pay and that the question of what to do with the administrator position will be discussed by Council at the meeting, most likely in executive session.
