The Williamston Police Department was recently asked to look into items allegedly missing from a town office and the investigation has been turned over to the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for investigation. According to Williamston Police Chief Tony Taylor, Williamston’s suspended Administrator Phyllis Lollis has alleged some items are missing from her office.

Lollis was placed on suspension by incoming Mayor Mack Durham on his first day in office. At the direction of Williamston Town Council, the administrator will remain suspended unless the mayor changes her status until a full council can discuss the situation and make a decision on what to do with the position.

An election will be held April 2 to fill an council seat vacated by Durham when he took office as mayor.
