Deputies seeking scam suspects

Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are searching for information that will help identify and locate at least two suspects that have recently scammed elderlypersons in Honea Path and Piedmont in order to burglarize them.

Honea Path, January 4 – Anderson County Sheriff Deputies responded to a residence where an elderly couple was lured out of their home and distracted by one suspect while another suspect burglarized their home and stole a purse. The male suspect that lured the couple out of their residence told them he was employed by Duke Energy. He was described a s a white male wearing a reflective vest and blue jeans and driving a wine (red) in color Chevy pickup.

Piedmont, February 2 – Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in Piedmont where an elderly female had been lured out her residence by a male suspect who advised her that he worked for Duke Energy. The white male suspect was described as being in his early 60’s was wearing a reflective vest and blue jeans and driving a red Ford F-150. As she was distracted another suspect had entered her residence burglarized her home and stolen jewelry and valuables.

Investigators are asking for anyone who may have information about this incident to contact them at (864)-260-4400 or Crimestoppers at 888-CRIMESC (274-6372). Crimestoppers will offer a reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of those responsible.
