RONNIE MELTON WELLS
Ronnie Melton Wells, age 66, of Lytle passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 in San Antonio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Janie (Jordan) Wells, father-in-law John W. Carroll, and brother-in-law Alfred Lee Carroll.
He is survived by his wife, Janell (Carroll) Wells of Lytle; sons: John Lewis Wells and wife Ginger of New Braunfels, David Patrick Wells and girlfriend Krystina Corbier of Lytle, and two grandchildren: Emma and Jackson Wells.
Mother-in-law Theresa Carroll of Lytle; sisters-in-law: Catherine Carroll of Lytle, Madelyn Van De Walle and husband Gene of Castroville, Vivian Neal and husband Danny of Poteet, Martha Carroll of San Antonio, and brother-in-law Walter Carroll of Lytle. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, goddaughter Megan Freasier, and his “Texas” family Geraldine and Tommy Jordan and children of Seguin also survive him.
Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 from 5PM until 9PM in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Lytle, with a rosary to be recited at 7PM. Funeral service followed at 11AM Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Lytle, with interment in Lytle Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lytle Ex-Students Association Scholarship Fund.

CLYDE JOHNSON
Clyde Ross Johnson, 69, of Belton, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Homer D. and Rose Stargle Johnson.  He was a former employee of 3M, a member of Monaghan Masonic Lodge #251 and a Baptist.
Surviving are daughter, Cindy Hendricks, of Pickens; son, Clyde Johnson, of Slater-Marietta; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday, February 15 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

CHUCK PORTER
Charles Eugene Porter, II, 35, of Williamston, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at his home.
Born in Galion, OH, he was the son of Charles Eugene and Connie Martin Porter. He was employed with E Tech Communications and T.J. Whispers.
Surviving are his parents of Ninilchik, Alaska; two sisters, Shondra Montgomery of Williamston and Nicki Coulson of Columbus, OH; and grandmother, Bertha Martin of Galion, OH.
A celebration of life was held Friday, Feb. 15 at T.J. Whispers in Anderson.

GERALD GARY LYNCH, SR.
Gerald Gary Lynch, Sr., 78, of Greenville, husband of Phyllis Wilson Lynch, died Sunday, February 10, 2013.
Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Jay Dee and Ethel Duckett Lynch.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Kathy Griffith and Gina Lynch Pranke, both of Greenville; sons, Gary Lynch of Easley and Phillip Lynch of Piedmont; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Thursday, February 14 in the Northwest Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JOE HENRY NORRIS, JR.
Joe Norris, 64, of Pelzer, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Joe Henry Norris, Sr. and Fannie Mae Jones Norris.
Surviving  are wife, Mary Norris; daughters, Gloria Ann Wright, Patricia Brownlee and Tasha Talley; sons, Curtis Hawkins, James Hawkins, Alfonso Hawkins, Billy Ray Hawkins, Bobby Joe Wright, Richard Lee Norris, Tyrone Lee Hawkins, and James Hawkins; sisters, Annie Ruth Anderson, Doris Jefferson, and Beatrice Thompson; brothers, Jimmy Lee Norris, Jessee James Norris, and Richard Norris.
Funeral service was held Friday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary with burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

JULIA STEWART
Julia Carolyn Clark Stewart, 88, of Pelzer, widow of Jack H. Stewart, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2013.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Mettie Frances Garrett Clark.  She was a member of the Ware Place Church of God.
Surviving are daughters, Julia “Judy” Jones, Amelia Gray and Sharon Plumley, all of Pelzer; sons, Boyd Stewart of Pelzer, and Jackie Stewart of Duncan; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, at the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

JOHN WYLY CANTRELL
John Wyly Cantrell, 81, of Anderson, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
He was born in Walhalla to Joe and Lou Zettie Cantrell. He retired from the textile industry and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Shirley H. Cantrell; daughters, Teresa Broome of Seneca, Carol Walton of Clarksville, GA; stepson, David Livingston of Pelzer; stepdaughters, Donna Lynn Livingston of Morehead City, NC, Debbie Shofner of Lakeland, FL, and Deana Livingston of Anderson; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 15 at the Brown-Oglesby Chapel. Burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park.

BOB GARRETT, SR.
PELZER – Robert Mack “Bob” Garrett, Sr., 88, of 600 Old River Road, widower of Tommie Frances Moore Garrett, died Friday, February 15, 2013.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Archie Mack and Alpha Capps Garrett.  Mr. Garrett bravely served his country in the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne Glider Division during World War II. A Purple Heart recipient, he was the recipient of five Bronze Stars and other awards. He retired from J. P. Stevens, Estes Plant, where he was a supervisor, and he was a life member of the Iodine State Beagle Club.  Mr. Garrett was the oldest member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church. His greatest loves were God, family, country and beagles.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Buddy Bennefield, of Williamston, Rhonda and Jimmy Moore, of Piedmont; brothers, the Rev. Charles Garrett, of Chesnee, and Billy Harold Garrett, of Pelzer; grandchildren, Tammy Gillespie, Danny Roach, Robby Roach, Keli Bruce and Brad Moore; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Logan, Brody, Bruce, Kristen and Marissa Roach, Garrett Gillespie and EllaJo Roach.  Bob is also survived by his very special friend, Montine Adams; his field trial buddies, John Hill, Richard and Carter Butterworth; and the rest of his beagle buddies.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Mack “Buster” Garrett, Jr.
Visitation was held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Piedmont Presbyterian Church.  Funeral services followed at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.  Burial was at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of Rhonda and Jimmy Moore, 66 Childs Road, Piedmont.

FRANCES JUANITA ‘PETE’ MOBLEY
Frances Juanita “Pete” Mobley, 79, of Honea Path, died February 10, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha Hawks.
Surviving are her children, Theresa G. Griffin of Williamston, William “Allen” Mobley of Simpsonville, Tracy A. Mobley of Honea Path; two brothers, Daniel “Sonny” Hawks, Ernest “Junior” Hawks; two sisters, Marie Williams and Mildred Hackler; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the mountains of Virginia.

CARLOS BLACK
Carlos Adger Black, 81, widower of the late Dorothy “Dot” Rose Brooks Black, of Westminster, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the Cottingham Hospice House.
Born in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Ben E. and Nettie Phillips Black. He was founder of Black’s Tire Service of Westminster and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son, Dale Black; daughter Doris Sheriff,  both of Westminster; sister, Virginia Miles of Piedmont; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 19 in the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park.

M.A. MCALISTER
Minard Alvaro McAlister, 84, of Anderson, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at his home.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Roy Dewey McAlister. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was employed at West Publishing Company.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Eleanor Terrell McAlister of the home; three daughters, Tara McAlister Poore of Hayesville, NC, Susan Taylor Rash of Asheville, NC, and Alisa Taylor Gibson of Anderson; son, John Taylor of Clemson; two brothers, Charles M. McAlister of Leesville, and Roy Dewey McAlister of Asheville, NC; four sisters, Una Hoff of Lexington, Myra Markham of Orlando, FL, Dorcas Allen of Clayton, MO, and Ariel Smith of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A visitation to honor his life was held Feb. 19 at The McDougald Funeral Home.

JOHN WYLY CANTRELL
John Wyly Cantrell, 81, of Anderson, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.

ROBERT LEE ‘BUDDY’ ENGLERTH
Robert Lee “Buddy” Englerth, 39, of Williamston, died February 13, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of Mallie Nichols Dillman and the late Emmett Harold Englerth.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Robbie and Johnny; brother, Gary ‘Junior’ Driver; sisters, Tracy Driver and Kelli Englerth Cason; half-sisters, Virginia, Connie, Lynn and Bobbie Jean; and half-brother, Raymond.
Funeral services were held in the Woodlawn Sosebee funeral home chapel on Saturday, Feb. 16. Burial followed in New Silverbrook Cemetery.

BRENDA GAIL HOWARD
Brenda Gail Howard, 52, of Williamston, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at her home.
Born in Anderson County, she is the daughter of the late Rayfus Howard Jr. and Patsy Owens Howard.
She was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Brian Patrick Strickland; two brothers, Michael S. Howard and Julian Howard; two sisters, Lynetia Howard and Carol B. Howard.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

FAYE VANADORE
Nellie Faye Richard Vanadore, 95, of Williamston, widow of Amos Rudolph Vanadore, died Monday, February 18, 2013, at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Herbert “Hub” and Dora Gardner Cox Richard.  She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Williamston.
Surviving are daughters Rina Vanadore of Williamston and Gaye Ragsdale of Pelzer; son Don Vanadore of Burk Burnett, TX; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 21 in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

JAMES HARPER
WILLIAMSTON – James “Jimmy” Arthur Harper, 63, of 2006 Beaverdam Court, husband of Sandra Lynn Childers Harper, died Monday, February 18, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Harry Buren Harper and Edna Edens Harper.  He was formerly employed with Harper Corporation, was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church, and attended High Praises Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Melissa Harper Fagan (Scott) of Williamston and Michelle Harper Austin (Scott) of Anderson; grandchildren, Alex and Case Austin; Emily and Abby Fagan; brother, Dr. Don Harper of Belton; sister, Nancy Harper Fowler of Piedmont.
Visitation was held from 1:30 – 2:30 pm Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services followed at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

EZELL MCNEELY SCHRONCE
Ezell McNeely Schronce, 97, widower of Mary Virginia Duncan Schronce, formerly of Belton, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at Omega Health and Rehab of Greenville.
Born in Lincoln County, NC, he was the son of the late William Pinkney and Gussie Emma Nance Schronce. He was a member of Austin Road Baptist Church in Honea Path.
Surviving are sons Steve Schronce of Belton, David Schronce of Lyman, Arthur Schronce of Williamston, and Allen Schronce of Belton; daughter, Jane Gillespie of Belton; ten grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

DONNA SPEARS
Donna Spears, 57, of Pelzer, died Tuesday, February 18, 2013.
Born in Japan, she was the daughter of George Ray and Joan Bennett Arthur.
Surviving are a daughter, Michelle Lewis; and two sisters, Stacey Quinn and Tisa Strawhorn.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Tanglewood Baptist Church.

RUSH CALVIN LITTLE, JR.
Rush Calvin Little, Jr., 62, of Greenville, died on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Geenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Rush Calvin Little, Sr. and Ellen Cohen Hunt.
Surviving are daughters, L’Oreal Tillman of GA, April Thomas of Mauldin, Regina Little of the home, and Tomasina Little-Purry of Greenville; son, Rush Calvin Little, III of Taylors; sisters, Ruby Billie and Helena Williams, both of Greenville and Melinda Garrett of Travelers Rest; brothers, John Little of Piedmont and William Little of Baltimore, MD.
Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Water of Life Church with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
