DON E. ‘DOODER’ TAYLOR, JAMES ‘JIMMY’ RANDOLPH WILLIS III, JOHN KUYKENDALL, CLIFFORD PARKER, ROBERT TALMADGE BRACKEN, MARIE PHILLIPS HAWKINS, JOHNNIE MAE WHITESIDE, DAVID WILLIAM KNIGHT ‘BIG KNIGHT’, BRAD OWENS

DON E. ‘DOODER’ TAYLOR
Don E. “Dooder” Taylor, 75, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
He was the son of the late William Clyde and Emily Blanche Richey Taylor. He retired from Greenville Mechanical HVAC and was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Tarrant Taylor; daughter, Donna Kay Taylor Kelly of Piedmont; eight grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Embiscuso of Piedmont.
His Life celebration was held Saturday, March 2, graveside at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JAMES ‘JIMMY’ RANDOLPH WILLIS III
James Randolph Willis, III (Jimmy), 36, of Piedmont, died on February 28th, 2013.
He was born in Simpsonville and was a stay at home dad.
He is survived by his wife, Elisa Willis; daughter, Kaylee Willis; parents, Becky Rieble and Roland Rieble; brother, Chad Willis; and sister, Holli Landry.
A memorial service was held March 6 at Augusta Road Ruritan Club in Piedmont.

JOHN KUYKENDALL
John Lewis Kuykendall, 78, of Pelzer, husband of Roberta Fowler Kuykendall, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Charles Pinkney and Fleeta Ayers Kuykendall.  He was owner of Kuykendall Dairy Farm and attended Pelzer United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are son, James F. Kuykendall of Simpsonville; daughters, Lynn Kuykendall and Janet Kostyal, both of Pelzer; grandchildren, John Edmond and Joy McWhirter, reared in the home; sister, Irene Johnson of Startex;  four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 5 at the Pelzer United Methodist Church.
Burial with Masonic Rites were in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

CLIFFORD PARKER
Roy Clifford Parker, 78, of Piedmont, died peacefully at Laurens County Hospital on Saturday, March 2, 2013.
Born in Anderson he had lived at Clinton Manor Assisted Living in Clinton for the past several years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roy C. and Lula Mae Welborn Parker
Surviving are his sister, Barbara A. Stanton and brother, Donald C. Parker, both of Piedmont.
Funeral services were held Monday in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed in New Silverbrook Cemetery, Anderson.

ROBERT TALMADGE BRACKEN
Robert Talmadge Bracken, 83, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 in Virginia Beach. He was born to the late Laura Smith and Thomas Jackson Bracken on July 10, 1929.
Bob served 22 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He then retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as an engineer after 20 years of service.
He was a member of Bayside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 30 years, a member of Bayside Masonic Lodge #218, Past Patron of Bayside Chapter #181 Order of the Eastern Star, and member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans Hampton Roads Base. As an avid Bluegrass and Gospel musician, Bob would frequently spent his time entertaining seniors in Assisted Living and Nursing homes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Bracken, his mother Laura Bracken and his brother James Bracken; he is survived by his wife, Ruth Bracken; one son, John Bracken of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Sarah Bracken Hutcheson of Virginia Beach and Patricia Bracken Carter of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his sister Betty Bracken Harrison of Williamston, SC, and his brother Larry Bracken of Williamston, SC.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1457 Independence Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23455. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.

MARIE PHILLIPS HAWKINS
Marie Phillips Hawkins, 81, wife of William C. Hawkins, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Garney and Mattie Smith Phillips. She was a member of Belton Church of God.
Surviving in addition to her husband are sons William “Rick” Hawkins of Little Mt., and Kim E. Hawkins of Lexington; sister Patricia Nichols of Williamston; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial service was held Sunday at Belton Church of God.
Memorials may be made to the Belton Church of God.

JOHNNIE MAE WHITESIDE
Johnnie Mae Whiteside, 73, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at her home.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Daisy Mae Dickey Whiteside. She was retired from Ryobi and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her son, Dean Whiteside; sister, Dorothy Whiteside; brother, Cecil Whiteside; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at The Howze Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

DAVID WILLIAM KNIGHT ‘BIG KNIGHT’
HONEA PATH – David William Knight, 54, husband of Teresa Chapman Knight of 893 Holiday Dam Rd. went home to be with the Lord doing what he loved best, taking care of his critters on March 3, 2013 at his Residence.
Born in Belton, he was the son of Hazel Davenport Knight of Williamston and the late Ray Knight. He was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church and Foothills Beagle Club. He worked for Cryovac for 35 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are: son, Drew Knight and wife Farrah of Belton; daughter, Raechel Knight of Iva; brother, Danny Knight and wife Debbie of Belton; sister, Tammy Richey and husband David of Iva; grandchildren, Braden “Bubba”, Taylor “Sissy” and Ty “Little Man”; father-in-law, Jimmy Chapman; he was “Wonderful Uncle David” to all his nieces and nephews; Kelly Knight, Amy Knight Payne, Jennifer Neely, Daniel Richey, Cheyene Richey, Ben Neely, Dani Payne and Candace McAllister.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law; Carolyn L. Chapman.
Service was held 2pm Wednesday at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Kelley officiating. Burial followed at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to Cedar Shoals Baptist Church Shoebox Ministry at 1045 Cooley Bridge Rd. Belton, SC 29627.
The family received friends from 5pm until 8pm Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home.
The family will be at the residence.

BRAD OWENS
Timothy Brad Owens, 36, of Belton, died March 4, 2013.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of Susan Ann Patton Poole and the late John Oliver Owens.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Carl David Poole of Belton; son, Timothy Lex Owens of Williamston; brother, Steven Eric Owens of Williamston; sister, Kim Owens; girlfriend, Teresa Harris of Williamston.
Visitation will be held from 3-4 pm Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
A memorial service will follow at 4 pm in the funeral home chapel.
