FRANCES OWEN KOWALSKI
Frances Owen Kowalski, 91, of Anderson, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late J.R. Owen and the late Blanche Kay Owen.
She retired as a teacher from the public school system.
She was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children, Wilton Lane Kowalski of Anderson and Suzanne Ponder of Spartanburg; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Wilton Kowalski.
Funeral service was held Friday, March 15 at Midway Presbyterian Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

PERRY J. MIMS
Perry J. Mims, 79, formerly of Easley, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Clinton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jannie Jacks Mims.
Surviving are daughters, Rev. Sallie Taylor of the home, Jannie Young and JoAnn Nance, both of Greenville; sons, Thomas Mims of Greenville and Perry Anthony Mims of Piedmont; brother, Thomas Mims of Baltimore, MD.
Funeral  service was held Saturday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

RAY MILFORD
Charles Ray Milford, 78, of Anderson, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013.
Born in Belton, he was the son of Calvin Todd Milford and Inez Jennings Milford.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy and was owner of several construction companies and restaurants. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Ellen Cater Milford of the home; seven children, Johnna Pittman of Piedmont, Beverly Sullivan of Anderson, Lisa Milford of Anderson, Dee Beebe of Anderson, Scott Milford of Anderson, Billy Milford of Anderson and Rayné Hale of Anderson; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Erlene Culbertson of Belton.
Funeral service was held Friday, March 15 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at M.J. “Dolly” Coper Veterans Cemetery with military honors.

FRANCES HALL
Frances “Cookie” Scott Finley Hall, 71, of Greenville, widow of Charles Hall, died March 11, 2013 at her home.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Doc Newell and Edna Dean Cox Scott. She was twice married, first to the late Ervin Finley.
Surviving are children, Jeanette Morris of Greenville, Lynn Hazelwood of Easley, Ervin Finley of Greenville, Hattie Finley of Piedmont, Tina Finley of Piedmont; sister, Katherine Webb of Greenville; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday, March 15 at Williamston Cemetery.

EVELYN BODIFORD
Evelyn Brazeal Bodiford, 87, formerly of Williamston, widow of Calvin Bodiford, died Saturday, March 16, 2013.
Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late John and Bertha Green Brazeal.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Bill Elgin, Terry and Bobby Chandler; three daughters Beth Bodiford, Melissa McMahan and Ann Yarborough; two brothers; three sisters; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Piedmont First Baptist Church.  Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.

BILLY RAY HIOTT
Billy Ray Hiott, 77, of Easley, died Saturday, March 16, 2013.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Henry Smith and Annie Gibson Hiott.  He was a member of the U.S. Air Force. Following his retirement from Marshall and Williams, he was the owner/operator of Hiott Textiles.
Surviving are two daughters, Becky Hiott Perdue and Bonnie Rena Rust; brother, Joe Hiott; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three step-daughters.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans’ Cemetery.

PHYLLIS DIORIO
Phyllis DiOrio, 65, of Williamston, died recently.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Eleanor DiOrio.  She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving are daughter, Athena Rozakos of Pelzer; sons, Joseph O’Rourke of Lantana, TX and Robert O’Rourke of Williamston; sisters, Margaret and Ann Marie DiOrio; brothers, Alan, Joseph, and James DiOrio; and six grandchildren.

LOIS STEWART PEEK
Lois Stewart Peek, 85, widow of Adrian Peek, died Friday, March 15, 2013.
Born in Jackson County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Howard Lee and Eva Moses Stewart.
She is survived by her daughter, Annette Norris of Easley; son, Eddie Peek of Piedmont; sister, Betty Dockery of Valdese, NC; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held March 18 in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MILDRED W. JONES
Mildred Williams Jones, 70, of Easley, died Friday, March 15, 2013.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Hansel and Ruth Elgin Williams. She retired as the Lunchroom supervisor from Crosswell Elementary and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Tina Long of Anderson and Tammy Gilreath of Easley; brothers, Boyce Williams and James Williams, both of Easley;  sisters, Judy Owens of Cross Hill and Drucilla Hall of Piedmont; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Eugene “Gene” Jones.
Funeral services were held March 19 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

RAMONA PITTS
Ramona Sanders Pitts, 84, of Greenville, widow of George Pitts, died Friday, March 15, 2013.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Nora Sanders.
She was a retired textile employee and a member of Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Brenda Woods, Wanda Gibbs, Trish Bennett, and Teresa Allison, all of Greenville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Monday, March 18 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. Entombment followed in Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum.

TRAVIS ALLISON
Travis Lamar Allison, 68, of Dacusville, husband of Bonnie O’Shields Allison, died Sunday, March 17, 2013.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late B. C. Gilstrap and the late Ernest and Christine Carson Allison Looper. He was a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Nancy Aiken of Easley; two sons, Larry Allison of Pickens and Terry Allison of Easley; three stepdaughters, Donna Albright of Powdersville, Anita Finley of Easley, and Debbie Hayes of Hoschton, GA; stepson, Danny Carter of the home; two half brothers, Samuel Allison of Pickens and Bobby Gilstrap of Rocky Bottom; eight grandchildren; ten step grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 19 at Blue Ridge View Baptist Church. Private burial followed in the church cemetery.

BOBBY RICE
Robert “Bobby” James Rice, Jr., 57, husband of Tammy Rice, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Robert James Rice and the late Alice Louise Kuykendoll.
He had worked for Richard Campbell Veterans Hospital and was a member of the Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to his father and wife; he is survived by two sons, Rocky Russell of Ray City, GA, and Steele Russell of Donalds; sisters, Carolyn O’Shields of Greenville, Geraldine Bell of Greenville and Peggy Ann Wallace of Powdersville; six grandchildren; and stepmother, Thelma Ann Rice.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 19 in the chapel of McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories in Belton.
Memorials may be made to the Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church, 205 Antreville Highway, Iva, SC 29655.

ORETHA ARNOLD
Oretha Myral Terry Arnold, 74, of Mauldin, died March 17, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital.
A native of Pelham, daughter of Lillie M. Nelson Terry and the late Fred O. Terry, she was a retired employee of Her Majesty and of the Church of God of Prophecy faith.
Also surviving are her husband, Charles Arnold of the home; son, Mike Arnold of Mauldin; daughter, Donna Roebuck of Newport News, VA; three brothers, Darrell Terry and Sonny Terry both of California, and Art Terry of Powdersville; sister, Wilma Hand of Simpsonville; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at The Wood Mortuary. Burial followed in Graceland East Memorial Park.

PAT JOY
Patricia Ann Duncan Joy, 67, of Pelzer, wife of Charles Richard Joy, died March 18, 2013 at Anmed Health Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Clyde, Jr. and Lois Carter Duncan.  She was formerly employed with GE.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters, Toni Wood of Pendleton and Allison Sullivan of Simpsonville; sons, H. Nolan Joy of Columbia and Duncan C. Joy of Easley; sister, Cynthia Bramlett of Greer and brother, Johnny Duncan of Sammamish, WA; four grandchildren; one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 pm Friday, March 22, 2013 at West Pelzer Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 at the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

JOHN EDGAR SMITH SR.
John Edgar Smith, Sr., 51, died on Friday, March 15, 2013.
Born in Duquesne, PA, he was son of the late Meredith Frances “Buck” Smith and Jessie Pearl Grace Smith. He was employed with Sloan Construction Co.
He is survived by son, John Edgar Smith, Jr. of PA; wife, Brenda Smith of the home; sisters, Olive, Sally, Icy Smith, all of Pennsylvania, and Jesse Smith of Easley; brothers, Meredith “Butch”, William “Pumpkin”, Glen and Vernon Smith, all of PA.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson Chapel. Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens, Clemson. The family is at 127 Spearman Dr., Pelzer and 108 Innis Brook Dr., Easley.

FLORENCE RADFORD
Florence Adell Underwood Radford, 86, widow of John Mitchell Radford, died March 19, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Greenville County, daughter of the late Horace and Veatrice Motes Underwood, she was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Ballew of Greer and Joann Treece of Piedmont; son, Danny Radford of Liberty; brother, Roy Underwood of Greenville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary.
The families are at their respective homes.
