Powdersville Subway robbed

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an early morning robbery that occurred at a Powdersville restaurant. Deputies responded to the Subway at 3443 Highway 153, Piedmont, and learned that a lone male robbed the manager at gunpoint and fled the scene on foot.

The manager told investigators that reported to work a little after 7 a.m. this morning. While he was unlocking the door to enter the restaurant, he was accosted by a black male clad in dark clothing, wearing a dark mask and gloves. The robber, who was wielding a handgun, forced the manager inside and demanded cash from the safe.

The thief also struck the manager in the head with the gun and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Sheriff’s deputies searched the area by air and also with the Bloodhound Team, but were unable to locate the culprit.

The manager was treated for his injury. He was not admitted to the hospital.

No suspects have been identified.
