PHILLIP N. GOSNELL
Phillip N. Gosnell, 60, husband of Cheryl Wiles Gosnell, of the Antreville Community, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Pelzer, to Willard and Jessie Martin Gosnell.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and coached football and taught at Palmetto, Crescent and Abbeville High Schools. He retired from the Abbeville School District and was a member of the Pelzer Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife; parents of Pelzer; two brothers, Keith Gosnell and David Gosnell, both of Greenville.
Funeral service was held Friday in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home. A private family burial followed in Goz’s Cemetery with military honors.

MILDRED P. EVATT
EASLEY – Our beloved mother, Mildred Pierce Evatt entered into eternal rest June 20, 2013. She was married for sixty-two years to the late Samuel Evatt, and resided for the last few years at NHC of Greenville during a declining period of health.
She was formerly of Summit Drive in Easley. She was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith and was a former health care worker. She was a devoted wife and mother. We shall cherish our memories of her all the days of our lives and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Evatt (Elaine) and Morris Evatt (Sandra); also by her grandsons, Brian (Sherry), Russell (Angie), Jeremy (Heather), Dustin, Chad, and Parker Evatt; granddaughters, Michelle Trusty (Joe) and Nicole Strange (Jebe). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 23 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation was held from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
The family would also like to thank the staff of NHC for their tender care and devotion to “Nannie.”
Family members are at their respective residences.

EDDIE RUTLEDGE
James Ellison “Eddie” Rutledge, Jr., 64, widower of Debra Graham Rutledge, of Honea Path, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at his home.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Ellison and Barbara Campbell Rutledge, Sr. He was of the Baptist faith and was a truck driver.
Surviving are a son, Kent Rutldege of Honea Path; two step-sons, Greg Williamson of Anderson and Carey Williamson of Williamston; two daughters, Dana Lee Rutledge of Honea Path and Melissa Ann Rutledge of Williamston; a brother, Jessie Rutledge of Belton; two sisters, Erlene James and Deborah “Rutt” Gilmer, both of Honea Path; and one grandchild.
Graveside services were held Friday, June 21, 2013 at Garden of Memories.

CHARLES COX, JR.
Charles Ruben Cox, Jr., 73, of Williamston, widower of Pearl Gravley Cox, died Thursday, June 20, 2013.
Born in Austinville, VA, he was a son of the late Charles Ruben, Sr. and Corda Hanks Cox.  He was a retired insurance salesman with Modern Woodmen of America.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are sons, Mitch Cox of Williamston, David Cox of Williamston, Perry Cox of Simpsonville, Brian Cox of Pelzer; grandchild raised in the home, Brandi Alberson of Williamston; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers; three sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22 in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Burial followed on Tuesday, June 25 at Bethany Cemetery in Austinville, VA.

ELIZABETH SUE DICKERT
Elizabeth “Libby” Dickert, 76, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
Surviving are her husband, Roy Dickert; and four children, Lander Johnson of Powdersville, Karen Cooper of Alameda, CA, Melanie Johnson of Pelzer, Tina Golden of Williamston; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 22 at Westville Chapel in Greenville.

KAREN MERCK ADAMS
Karen Merck Adams, 58, of Hendersonville, TN, died on Monday, June 3, 2013 at her home.
Born in Six Mile, she was the daughter of Claude F. Merck, Sr. and Joyce Carroll Merck. She was the financial manager for Johnny and June Carter Cash.
Surviving are her husband, William Adams; two children,  Kyle Adams of Nashville, TN and Heather Adams Anderson of Hendersonville, TN; one grandson; three brothers, John B. Merck of Six Mile, Melvin Merck of Easley, and Gary S. Merck of Powdersville; two sisters, Marlene Harrison and Emma Lee Duncan, both of Six Mile.
Memorial service was held June 22 at the Gap Hill Church of God.

ANNIE CLARDY
Annie Laurie Simpson Clardy, 94, formerly of Williamston, widow of Broadus Allen Clardy, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at AnMed Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Waymon Allen and Ada Fisher Simpson.  She retired from Anderson School District One as a lunchroom employee.  She was also a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.
Surviving is her sister, Lucy Ann Simpson Wall of Charleston.
The funeral was held Sunday, June 23 at Whitefield Baptist Church.  Burial was held in the church cemetery.

SHIRLEY ANN JENKINS
Shirley Ann Pearson Jenkins, 77, wife of James B. Jenkins of Easley, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late William Casper “Cas” Pearson and the late Corrie Sanders Pearson. She was retired from Allstate Insurance Company and was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, James, of the home; son, Blake Jenkins of Easley; and daughter, Leigh Ann Revis of Easley; two grandchildren; and brothers, Joe Pearson of Pelzer and Jerry Pearson of Georgia.
Funeral service was held Sunday at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

RICHARD B. JACKS
Richard Blaylock Jacks, 80, husband of Shirley R. Jacks, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at NHC of Anderson.
Born in Clinton, he was the son of the late Frank and Emma Brownlee Jacks. He was a graduate of North Greenville College, Carson Newman College and earned his Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina. He was a retired teacher and coach with the majority of his career at Palmetto Middle School.
He served on the Williamston City Council during the 1970s, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Anderson. He was community oriented and gave much time and devotion to many charities and ministries including prison ministries. He was a member of the Anderson Lions Club and Boulevard Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Laura Ruffin and husband Gene of Athens, GA; Nancy Mansfield and husband David of  Fayetteville, GA.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Boulevard Baptist Church.

ROBERT E. DUNLAP
Robert E. Dunlap, 79, died June 24, 2013 at Asbury Care Center.
Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Ernest Augustus and Zoa Ragsdale Dunlap. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He retired from Horace Mann Insurance Company. He was also a football coach at Union High School and McClenaghan High School in Florence.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtle S. Dunlap; son, Kevin Dunlap; and one grandson.
A memorial service was held Friday at The Wood Mortuary.
