BELTON – James Roy Guest, 85, of Cheddar Road, husband of Betty Frances Singleton Guest, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013.
Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Leo and Carrie McCoy Guest.  He was retired from Blair Mill, a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, James Michael “Mike” Guest (Cindy) of Belton and Timothy “Tim” Craig Guest (Laurie) of Belton; four grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb Guest, Nolan, Emma Guest; two great-grandchildren, Casey and Avery Couch; sister, Sue McKee of Anderson.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mae Fricks.
Visitation was held from 1-2 pm Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the funeral service followed at 2 pm.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family was at the home.

“TOM” LOOPER
BELTON – Thomas Marshall Looper, 85, husband of Algera “Algy” Breazeale Looper, his wife of almost sixty years, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Marshall Addison and Sarah Elizabeth Richardson Looper.  He was a member of Seneca Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and long-time Sunday School teacher. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Looper served as both teacher and coach at Palmetto, Townville, and Seneca High Schools.  He retired as principal of Ravenel Elementary School in Seneca, having served as a school administrator for thirty years in Oconee County.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Beth Looper of the home, Lynne Phillips (Bo) of Belton; sons, Tim Looper of Seneca, Mike Looper (Terri) of Rock Hill; sister, Betty Addison of Pelzer; seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by seven siblings.
Visitation was held from 1:00-2:30 pm Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:30 pm.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

The family was at the home of Lynne and Bo Phillips, 1220 Breazeale Rd., Belton.

MIKE HESTER
PELZER – Claude Michael “Mike” Hester, 66, of 9-A Courtney Street, husband of Rita Faye Phillips Hester, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Claude Horace and Mattie Brooks Hester. A U. S. Army veteran, he served in Vietnam, Korea and Germany. He retired from Torrington Manufacturing and was a member of the Williamston Church of God.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Larry Hester (Judy), of Pelzer.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

KENNETH ‘KEN’ WILLIAMS
Kenneth “Ken” Lamar Williams, 75, of Belton, husband of Betty Jane Ruff Williams, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Otto and Ruth Vermillion Burns Williams.  He was retired from 3M and a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Robin Jacky of Anderson, Cindy Giles of Canton, GA, Dee Cox of Anderson; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Janice Hammond and Judy Frasier.
Graveside services were held on Friday, July 26, at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery with visitation following.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.

REV. JAMES E. KELLY
Rev. James Edward Kelly, 92, of Williamston, husband of the late Lois Kinley Kelly, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Charles Eddie and Ruth Elrod Kelly. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served as pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Williamston and Long Branch Baptist Church. After his retirement he served several area churches as interim pastor.
Surviving are two sons, Don E. Kelly of Winnsboro and Mark Kelly of Lexington; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 28 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Entombment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

SHARON PRICE
Sharon Diane Garner Price, 63, of Belton, widow of Carl David Price, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at her home.
Born in Griffin, GA, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Nora Gertrude Garner.  She was formerly employed with Wal-Mart in Anderson and a member of Faith Fellowship. She also attended Cowboy Church.
Surviving are daughter, Shannon Strickland of the home; adopted daughter, Trish McClain of Belton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Williams, Peggy Boytt, Barbara Garner, all of Georgia.
The funeral service was held at the home on Tuesday, July 30.

BOBBIE DAVIS HUFF
Bobbie Davis Huff, 76, of Piedmont, wife of the late Wallace Berry Huff, died Friday, July 26, 2013.
Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Buna G. Davis.
She was a member of Berea First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Barry Lee Huff; one granddaughter; and a sister, Eleene Davis.
A graveside service was held Monday, July 29 in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

REV. CHARLES SUMMEY, JR.
Rev. Charles “Charlie” Ernest Summey, Jr., 45, husband of Julie Summey, died July 27, 2013, in Simpsonville.
He was a former pastor of Pelzer United Methodist Church.
Born in Gastonia, NC, he was the son of Charles Ernest Summey, Sr., and Jo Grissom Summey.
Rev. Summey received his BSEET from Appalachian State University and his Masters of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary. He was the former pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church and chaplain for Boys Scouts of America, Troop 159, Blue Ridge Council.
Survivors, in addition to his wife and parents, include a daughter, Becca Summey, and a son, Adam Summey, both of the home; and a sister, Josie S. Conner and husband, David, of Gastonia, NC.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 29  at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast Chapel. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, July 30, at Trinity United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society, 55 Chapel Street, Suite 200, Newton, MA 02458, or Trinity United Methodist Church, 2703 Augusta Street, Greenville, 29605.
The family will be at the residence.

CARLOS CHILDS
Carlos Childs, 56, of Piedmont, died July 27, 2013.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 at Cremation Society of South Carolina-Westville, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville.

JERRY F. COOPER
Jerry F. Cooper, 67, of Anderson, died Friday July 26 at Rainey Hospice of Anderson.
Surviving are his wife, Annette Cooper; son, Frankie Cooper of Belton; one grandson; sisters, Nina Sue Mclain of Greer, Joan Davis of Piedmont and Alta Vanadore of Anderson.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

BETTY PARKER
Betty Eaton Parker, 73, of Pelzer, widow of Claude Eugene Parker, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
She was a daughter of the late John Robert and Montine Gee Eaton.
Surviving are daughters, Jean Spillers of Anderson, Beth Gillespie of Pelzer, Vickie Harrison of Piedmont, Claudia Laudermilk of Charleston; sister, Helen Lollis; brothers, Charles and Joe Eaton.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am on Thursday, August 1 at Gray Mortuary with the service following at 11:00 am.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family is at the home.

LUCILE WILLIAMS
Lucile Williams, 94, of Piedmont, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at her home.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ella Blanche Sizer Chapman.
Surviving are daughters, Bernice Young and Carol Bennett, both of Piedmont, and Shirby Pitts of Greenville; son, Owens Williams, Jr. of Piedmont; sisters, Annie Grace Lardell of Akron, OH and Frances Yarn of Saginaw, MI; brother, James Chapman of Youngstown, OH; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Flat Rock Baptist Church with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
