WILLIAM ‘BILL’  STEWART
William “Bill” Stewart, 58, died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Rev. James B. Stewart and the late Annie Ricketts Stewart. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia.
He is survived by his wife, Rayna Allyn Stewart of Lugoff; three sons, Timothy L. Stewart of Spartanburg, Jarrad Stewart of Easley, Christopher J. Stewart of Jacksonville, FL; stepson, Christopher C. Boatwright of Columbia; stepdaughter, Normandy E. Boatwright of Lugoff; two grandchildren; brother, Jim Stewart of Williamston; sisters, Shirley Wilkinson of Altamonte Springs, FL, Sandra Bonds of Honea Path, Ellen King of Anderson, and Marian Stewart of Abbeville.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Honea Path Presbyterian Church.

DIANNA WEST
Dianna Joyce West, 38, of West Pelzer, died September 1, 2013.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of Doug and Brenda Cureton West.
She was a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her parents of West Pelzer are daughter, Olivia DelRay West of West Pelzer; brother Brad West of Williamston; grandmother, Helen Cureton of West Pelzer;
The funeral service was held Friday in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Burial followed at Graceland Cemetery in Greenville.

WILLIE WILBANKS, JR.
Willard “Willie” Morris Wilbanks, Jr., 71, of Williamston, husband of Sandra Sellars Wilbanks, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013.
Born in Taylors, he was the son of the late Willard Morris, Sr., and Lucille Wilbanks. A veteran of the U. S. Navy, he retired from the Greenville Hospital System. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Brian Wilbanks, of Williamston, and Jamie Wilbanks of Massillon, OH; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Friday, September 6 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

FRANCES THOMPSON
PELZER—Mary Frances Lindley Thompson, 89, of 9 Guy Street, widow of  Henry Oliver Thompson, died Wednesday, September 04, 2013, at Hosanna Health and Rehab.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of J.O. and Nora Tumblin Lindley.  Frances retired from Anderson County School District One where she worked in the cafeteria.  She was a member of Pelzer First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters Mrs. Sherman (Mary Ann) Woodson, of West Pelzer and Mrs. Joel (Sissy) Taylor, of Pelzer; two grandchildren, Sherman Woodson and Ann Gaston; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Mrs. Thompson was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kim Woodson Golden.
Visitation was 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at Gray Mortuary.  The service was held in the funeral home chapel Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Roger Couch and Rev. Barry Garrett officiating.  Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

ELLEN M. LOCKABY
Ellen Mullikin Lockaby, 86, widow of W. Jesse Lockaby, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013.
Born in Pendleton, she was the daughter of the late William Arnold Mullikin and Ruth Mullikin McAlister.
She retired from Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, PA and was a member of Six & Twenty Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Lynn L. Wilson of Seneca; son, W. Timothy Lockaby of Powdersville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty M. Brackett of Shelby, NC.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Six & Twenty Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

CHARLES VANCE
Charles Vance, 59, of Fountain Inn, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at his home. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Pastal Cureton and Willie L. Vance.
Surviving are wife, Betty Vance; daughter, Ebony Griffin Harrison of Piedmont; step-daughters, Starlese Dawkins of Charlotte, NC and Sarah Gray of Gray Court; sisters, Dorothy Shumate and Fredia Goolsby; one grandchild; and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary with burial in Graceland East Cemetery.

ROBERT WILSON
PIEDMONT – Samuel Robert Wilson, 95, of 515 Blossom Branch Road, husband of seventy-seven years to Pauline Evans Wilson, died September 4, 2013 at his home.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Artie Mae Capps Wilson.  He was retired from J.P. Stevens Piedmont Plant and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.  Mr. Wilson enjoyed farming and selling produce.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Joyce Pressley and Marian Greer (Ronnie); daughter-in-law, Anne Wilson; grandchildren, Duane Wilson, Danny Davis, Sandra Hiscott, Terri Wilson, Terry Greer; eleven great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by sons, Roy and Clyde Wilson; grandsons, Tim Wilson, Randy Greer and Ronnie Greer, Jr.; granddaughter, Wendy Davis; great-great granddaughter, Haley Wilson.
Visitation was held from 2-3 pm Saturday at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
The funeral service followed at 3 pm at the church with burial in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home of Anne Wilson, 519 Blossom Branch Road, Piedmont.

RALPH ‘MARSHAL’ WILSON
IVA – Ralph “Marshal” Wilson, 74, of the Lake Secession Community, husband of Jackie Maiuro Wilson, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville. He was born in Anderson, to the late JJ and Ruth Holmes Wilson.
He was a 1957 Crescent High School Graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worshiped at Providence Presbyterian Church in Lowndesville.
He has been a Mechanical Engineer for 40 years and was employed with Mustang Engineering in Greenville. When he and his wife were not traveling, as they loved to do, he enjoyed singing whether at home, at church or at the local nursing homes where he expressed his passion for music.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years of the home; a son, Barry Wilson of Currie, NC; a daughter, DeDe Martin and her husband Pat, of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Bobby Wilson and his wife Mary Jean, of Phoenix City, AL; and Forbes Wilson and his wife Ella, of Anderson; two sisters, Joyce Twarkins of Iva, and Ellen Wright of Starr; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 8 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial with Military honors followed in the Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lowndesville.
The family is at the home on Lake Secession.

MARGARET ARFLIN
Margaret Ann Wood Arflin died September 5, 2013.
She is survived by daughters, Karen Anderson and Terri Clary; two sons, Brian and Bill Williams; two step-sons, Jimmy and Bobby Arflin; five sisters, Vickie King, Linda Davis, Jean King, Marilyn McDowell, Diana Faye; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Saturday in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

HUNTER W. ELGIN
Hunter Watkins Elgin, 76, of Anderson, husband of Grace Carolyn Coker Sanders Elgin, died Friday, September 6, 2013, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Guy William Elgin and Nannie Bell Murphy Elgin Hargate.  He retired from Sunbeam Bakery and Rockwell International and was employed at American Security.  He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church in Belton.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by his daughter, Jackie Williams of Starr; sons, Douglas Elgin of Hartwell, GA, and Hunter L. Elgin of Belton; stepsons, Buddy Sanders of Pelzer, and Jimmy Sanders of Anderson; sister, Louise Mincey of Greenville; brothers, George Elgin of Anderson, and Roger Elgin of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The graveside service was held Sunday at Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

RANDY DUNCAN
Randy Ray Duncan, 58, of Williamston, died at his home on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of Elsie Griffin Duncan of Williamston and the late H. B. Duncan Jr. He was a contractor and a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Melinda Rholetter of Liberty; a brother, Ricky Duncan of Williamston; four sisters, Diane Rogers of Williamston, Debbie Grant of Pelzer, Pam Garner of Anderson, and Jennifer Pitts of Anderson; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Sunday, Sept. 8 at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

GLADYS MAE HARRISON
Gladys Mae Harrison age 82 of Rutherfordton, NC died September 8th, 2013 at Carolina House.
Gladys was the daughter of the late Mike and Lizzie O’Neal Bailey.  Gladys was an active member of First Baptist Church of Piedmont, SC and was also active in the community in the Mother’s Club and the Book Club.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Donna Harrison and husband Ed Lyerly of Rutherfordton, NC; Nancy Brown and husband Bill of Easley, SC; granddaughter Amy Andersen and husband Sean of Fredericksburg, VA; great granddaughter Sydney Andersen of Fredericksburg, VA; sister Lathie Ray of Wake Forest, NC; brother Millard Bailey and wife Ruth of Wake Forest, NC.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kelly Brown.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Stony Hill Baptist Church in Wake Forest, NC. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 8 First Baptist Church Road, Piedmont, SC 29673 or Stony Hill Baptist Church 7521 Stony Hill Rd, Wake Forest, NC 27587.

WILLIAM CAMPBELL
WARE PLACE – James William Campbell, 87, of 1021 Hwy 8 East, widower of Emma Lee Allen Campbell, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at his home.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late T.I. and Lillie Mae Abercrombie Campbell.
At an early age, Mr. Campbell worked with his father and brother at T.I. Campbell and Sons Grocery, then he owned his own store, J.W. Campbell Grocery and Garage.  He was retired from Greenville County as a sign supervisor and also served as a Greenville County Magistrate in the Oaklawn Township.
Mr. Campbell was a member of Washington Baptist Church, Pelzer Masonic Lodge # 217, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 84.
Surviving are son, Allen Campbell (Christie Mueller) of the home; daughters, L. Michelle Campbell and S. Lynn Campbell, both of Greenville, Kathy C. Williams (Larry) of Pelzer; grandson, Brad Thompson (Kelley) of Williamston; sister, Cecil Switzer of Pelzer; brother, C.J. Campbell of  Ware Place.
He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Ramsey.
Visitation was held from 7-9 pm Tuesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Funeral services were at 2 pm Wednesday at Washington Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

JOHNNY STARGEL, SR.
Johnny Leon Stargel, Sr., 66, of Piedmont, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Henry Cletus and Florine Aiken Stargel. He retired from Piedmont Landscaping.
Surviving are sons, Johnny Leon Stargel, Jr. of Belton, and Ricky Basinger of Piedmont; brothers, Gary Stargel of Piedmont, Henry Stargel of Easley; sister, Elizabeth Galloway of Belton; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Tanglewood Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pumpkintown with visitation immediately following the service.

PEGGY HELLER
Peggy Joyce Cooper Heller, 82, of Pelzer, widow of Bobby Joe Heller, Sr., died Monday, September 9, 2013.
Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Allen and Ruth Blanton Cooper. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer.
Surviving are daughters, Mary H. Wheeler of the White Plains Community, and Terri Joyce Heller of Inman; son, Bobby Joe Heller, Jr. of Simpsonville; brother, Gary Allen Cooper of Anderson; sisters, Teresa Cape of Anderson, and Gather Peeples of Hartwell, GA; and three grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer with burial following at the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home prior to the service.
