Jeanes, Rogers elected

Two new members of the West Pelzer Town Council will take their seats, once the election commission certifies the results of Tuesday’s election.

Incumbent Randall Ledford was handily defeated, finishing fourth in the four candidate field. Incumbent Ann Odom did not seek reelection, opening one seat.

Former councilman Jimmy Jeanes was the top vote getter with seventy three votes, while Johnny Rogers, Sr. edged out Pat Black by a count of fifty four to fifty.

The two highest vote getters won the at large seats. Jeanes, who had served on Council before, gave up that seat to run for mayor in the last election. He was soundly defeated in that bid Twenty three per cent of the eligible voters in town turned out..
