Delbert and Rachele Hart will be Grand Marshalls of the Piedmont Christmas Parade. The parade, sponsored by the Bonnes Amies Club, will be this Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m.

The Harts are widely known in this area for their music and work with the underprivileged. They are the founders of Appalachian Ministries of the Carolinas. Ten years ago they began collecting items of warmth and food for those in need in the Appalachian Mountain Region. Each year The Harts and many other people from our area collect items to donate to Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and other areas in need of assistance. They make several trips each year to different states to deliver items donated to the ministry. They also donate items to local ministries, the homeless, women shelters, adult recovery centers and families here in our area. Donated items include blankets, jackets, coats, caps, gloves, baby items, toys, personal hygiene items, food and school supplies.

Delbert and Rachele were married on June 19th, 1992. The enjoy spending time with family and have been blessed with three daughters, six grandchildren and three great-grand children. They both have a musical background and a love of music which they share in their local church and in various places in several states. Their love of family, friends, music and ministry has brought much joy into their lives, as well as sharing their faith by ministering to the needs of others along life’s journey.

“Please come out and join us on Saturday morning at 11a.m. for the Piedmont Christmas Parade and cheer for Delbert and Rachele as they start the parade,” Spokesperson Betty White said.
