Brandon Herrington and Eddie Workman, firefighters with the Powdersville Fire Department, were presented the Anderson County Fire Department Courage & Life Saving Award on Nov. 22 in recognition of their unselfish rescue in saving a life at a structure fire on November 22, 2013. The award was given to them at the annual Anderson County Fire Department Chief’s banquet January 27.

Herrington and Workman risked their on lives to make entry into a house fire to remove a trapped female. Both men live in the neighborhood where the fire happened and responded to the scene before the trucks arrived. With only their fire gear on, they knew they had to make entry quick and not wait on breathing apparatus that could aid them in the rescue.

“Brandon and Eddie used their training and experience to make quick decisions just as I would expect any of our firefighters to do in this situation. We at Powdersville Fire Department are very proud of these gentlemen for how they have handled the situation,” Powdersville Fire Chief Scott King said.

Powdersville firefighters Brandon Herrington and Eddie Workman were recently presented the Anderson County Fire Department Courage & Life Saving Award for a rescue which saved a life during a structure fire in 2013.
