Arrests possibly related to recent car thefts

Arrests made Monday during a drug bust on Tripp St. in Williamston may be connected to a rash of car thefts and burglaries that have plaqued the area for several weeks.

Three people were arrested in the drug bust at 803 Tripp St. in which a stolen vehicle was recovered along with other items related to recent burglaries according to Williamston Police Chief Tony Taylor.

Taylor said the Williamston Police Department, working with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, obtained a search warrant for the residence which resulted in finding a check book, credit cards and other items that have recently been reported stolen.

The Williamston Police Department and Sheriff’s Office have investigated numerous instances of vehicles being stolen from area residents recently. Chief Taylor said the arrests made Monday may be connected to the recent rash of stolen vehicles.

A vehicle recovered was valued at $8,000. Sgt. C. Whitfield, M. E. Simmons investigated.

Facing charges that include possession of Schd IV narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of methamphetamine are:

James Milford Hollingsworth III, 26, 103 F Family CR#F, Piedmont and Hayley Breanne Gunter, 21, 803 Holliday Dam Rd. Honea Path are facing drug charges.

Cameron Drake Clark, 20, 615 HI Taylor Rd., Williamston is facing charges on the stolen vehicle.

Chief Taylor said additional arrests may be forthcoming.
