The Town of Williamston has been approved for a $100,000 PRT grant for a multi use trail project. Williamston Mayor Mack Durham announced today (Wednesday) that he has received confirmation that the Town has been approved to receive the grant funding for the town’s first official trail project.

The grant is the first trails grant awarded in Anderson County. The funds will be used for a 3000 ft. trail beginning at the Veterans Park, extending along Big Creek toward the schools and ending behind the town’s maintenance sheds off Minor St.

Durham said the trail will have a 30 ft. right of way with a 10 ft. wide paved trail in the center. The multi use walking/biking trail will roughly follow the sewer outfall line.
