The Greater Williamston Business Association recently discussed upcoming events including the GWBA Easter Egg Hunt, Party in the Park and July 4th Freedom Celebration. The annual Easter Egg Hunt for ages 10 and under will be held beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12 in Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park. Rain date for the event will be the following Saturday, Apr. 19.

Kelly Bowman of K&M Dance Studio is heading the project. The group approved up to $600 in funding for the event.

The GWBA is planning two Party in the Park events. The first will be held on May 23 and the second on Aug. 2. Additional details will be announced about the events.

The group is also planning to participate in the Town’s annual Freedom Celebration and Fireworks event. The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 5 this year.

The GWBA will sponsor a band, Jukebox 45, which will perform from 7:30 to 10 pm in the park prior to the fireworks at approximately 10:15 pm. The group will also organize food vendors for the event which includes a cruise-in sponsored by the Williamston Fire Department. The town is also planning to expand the fireworks show.

Group members approved $500 to help with expenses for the event.

The GWBA is also planning to participate in an information session for the business community planned for 6:30 p.m. May 8 at the Williamston Municipal Center. The event will be in conjunction with the Palmetto Area Economic Development Group, Main St. Williamston and Anderson County Economic Development.

The group also approved minor wording changes in their constitution.

The GWBA meets on the third Tuesday of each month at member restaurant locations. Meetings are announced by email and posted on the GWBA website.

Any local business who would like to be more involved in the community and GWBA events is invited to become a member.

The GWBA is currently wrapping up a membership drive and now is a great time to join, President Chris Trotter said.

Membership information and a list of the seventy plus members is available on the GWBA website at www.gwba.info.
