Arrest made in copper thefts from cell towers

Moore, Jonathan Colie (photo)The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Jonathan Colie Moore, 32, of Anderson, in connection with theft of copper from two cell phone tower sites in Anderson County.

Moore is accused of  burglarizing the cellular tower site located at 199 Latimer Road, Anderson and the AT&T power station located at 221 Alliance Parkway, Williamston.

According to arrest warrants, on March 25th, Moore made entry into the fenced-in area which secured the site on Latimer Road, entered a building leased to T-Mobile and stole copper wiring valued at $11,000 while causing over $15,000 in damage.

On March 31st, Moore forced entry into the AT&T building on Alliance Parkway and stole $7,000 worth of copper wiring and buss bars, while caused over $5,000 in damage to that facility.

He has been charged with 2 counts of Burglary, 4 counts of Grand Larceny, and 4 counts of Injury to Real Property [to obtain nonferrous metals]. He is currently being held at the Anderson County Detention Center on a $56,000 bond.

Per Sheriff Skipper, “At this time, there is no evidence to indicate that Moore has been involved with other recent copper thefts in our area, but the investigation is still on-going.”
