BILLIE THOMPSON
Billie Hopkins Thompson, 91, of Pelzer, widow of Joe William Thompson, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Darby Hopkins.  She was retired from Enterprise Car Rental Co. and a member of Washington Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, Robert Charles Thompson of Lexington; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral service was held Saturday in the funeral home Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JAMES FOWLER
James Christopher Fowler, 83, husband of Dorothy Chapman Fowler, died Monday, April 7, 2014.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Carol and Nettie Fowler. He retired from Textiles and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Fowler of Anderson; one sister, Pearl Dalton; three grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home Downtown.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 105 S. Fant St., Anderson, SC 29624.

MARY ELIZABETH ELDER GETGEN
Mary Elizabeth Elder Getgen, 72, of Williamston, died Friday, March 14, 2014.
Born in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Oren Clyde Elder and Ella Susanna Rowland Elder. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, William Marvin Getgen of the home; and a sister, Thelma Levickas of Newark, NY.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 12 at Bible Baptist Church.

NORBERT AND JUNE ROGERS
Norbert Franklin Rogers, 97, of Piedmont, died Monday, April 7, 2014 and his wife, June H. Rogers, 89, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2014.
Born in New London, CT, he was a son of the late James Lewis and Nancy Matilda Tuthill Rogers. She was born in Bridgeport, CT, and was a daughter of the late Oliver Gould and Martha Emma Saunders.
Mr. Rogers served in the US Navy and Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker. Both were members of Edgewood Church of Christ.
They are survived by their children, Norbert Franklin Rogers, II of Hillsboro, OR, Marilyn June Boston of Eliot, ME, Becky West Flater of Piedmont, Don Gilbert Rogers of Chesapeake, VA, and Carolyn Lee Fodor of Franklin, NC; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Friday, April 11 at Edgewood Church of Christ.

VELMA STOKES PHILLIPS
Velma Colleen Stokes Belcher Phillips, 88, widow of Odell Phillips, died April 9, 2014 at Alpha Health and Rehab.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Edmond E. and Susie Atkins Stokes. She retired from Tungsten Industries and was a member of Piedmont Park Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Vickie Bruce of Greer, Kathy Pruitt of Travelers Rest, Billie Kae Hart of Taylors; sister, Brenda Burgin of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Saturday at The Wood Mortuary. Burial followed at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Piedmont Park Baptist Curch, 801 Piedmont Park Road, Greenville, SC 29607.

LINDA HERDLISKA
Linda Lou “Mimi” (Longnecker) Herdliska, 60, of Piedmont, wife of Gary David Herdliska, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Toledo, OH, she was a daughter of Helen Louise (Kenngott) Longnecker and the late Raymond Howard Longnecker.  She was formerly employed by Carolina Dental.
In addition to her husband of the home, she is survived by daughters, Heather Moore of Ocala, FL and Rachell Brown of Tampa, FL; sons, Andrew Herdliska of Orlando, FL and Joe Herdliska of Washington, DC; mother, Helen Longnecker of Petersburg, MI; sisters, Cathy Secor of Petersburg, MI and Julie DuMoulin of Monroe, MI; brother, Gary Longnecker of Jacksonville, FL; and one granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life Service is planned for a later date.

ROGER ‘SHORTY’ WILLIAMS
WILLIAMSTON – Roger Franklin “Shorty” Williams, 73, of 181 Cherokee Rd., husband of Sharon Phillips Williams, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2014.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Daris Jones and Wilma Rogers Williams.  He was retired from Duke Power, a member of the Williamston Masonic Lodge and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  He loved to watch his grandkids participate in Palmetto Mustang athletics.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Michelle Williams Burroughs of Williamston and her fiancé, Clayton Jones of Piedmont, Melissa Williams Merner and husband, Ken of Williamston; four grandchildren, Lauren and Steven Burroughs, Jacob and Taylor Merner; brother, Paul Williams and wife, Mary of Williamston, sister, Mabel Roberts of Williamston.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church with Revs. Mark Roberts and Joe Cadden officiating. Burial followed at Whitefield Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caris Hospice, 129 Straight Rd., Anderson, SC 29625 or to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 10 Academy St., Williamston, SC 29697.
The family would like to thank the staff of NHC of Anderson for the love, care, and compassion they showed to Mr. Williams and his family.

JANET LEWIS
WILLIAMSTON—Janet Elaine “Jan” Saylers Lewis, 49, of 628 Mountain View Road, wife of Joey Michael Lewis, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at her home.
Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late William Sanford Saylers and Joyce Elaine Owens Saylers of Pelzer.  She was owner of Palmetto Arts and Frame and a very active member of New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Casey Elaine Lewis of Greenville, Hailey Nicole Lewis and Amy Elizabeth Lewis of the home; grandmother, Jessie Owens Jacks of West Pelzer; parents-in-law, Charles and Elaine Frasier of Williamston; and brothers, Richard Keith Saylers and William Michael Saylers of Pelzer.
Visitation was held 6:00 -8:30 p.m. Monday at Gray Mortuary.  The funeral was held Tuesday 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with burial following at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

CARL STEPHENS
Carl William Stephens, 88, formerly of Williamston, widower of Dorothy Stephens, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Calvin and Jennie Lynn Kindley Stephens. He retired from the U. S. Army.
He is survived by a brother, Raymond O’Neal Stephens of Pelzer.
A graveside service was held Saturday, April 12 at Graceland West Cemetery.

CLAUDE ROE
Claude Newton Roe, 70, of Williamston, husband of Sandra Cooley Roe, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Rainey Hospice House.
He was a son of the late J.T. and Vivian Cason Roe. He retired from Albany International. He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Barry Roe of Anderson; daughter, Karen Cantrell of Spartanburg; sister, Martha Louetta Taylor of Piedmont; and four grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday at Gray Mortuary. The funeral was held Wednesday at Big Creek Baptist Church. Burial  followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

LISA R. ANTONE
Lisa R. “Momma Lisa” Antone, 61, of Pelzer, wife of Pete Antone, died Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was born in Greenville to the late Bobby and Wilma Bridwell Davis.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband of the home; four sons, Rev. Kile Antone, Joshua Lee Antone, Patrick Antone and Joshua David Antone; a sister, Laura Davis; and four grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life was held Sunday at Buffalo Baptist Church in McCormick.

PHILLIP PENNINGTON
Phillip A. Pennington, 52, of Piedmont, died Friday, April 11, 2014.
He is survived by a son, James Pennington; daughter, Crystal Adams; four grandchildren; three brothers, John Pennington, Ralph Pennington, and Jerry Pennington; and two sisters, Lynda Smith and Peggy Hinton.
Interment was held Sunday at Riverside Cemetery.

RONNIE STONE
Ronnie Stone, 70, of Piedmont, died Thursday, April 10, 2014. He was born to the late Ansel and Carrie Stone.
He is survived by former wife, Sandra Stone; two daughters, Tina Stone and Sonya Culbertson; a son, Mark Stone; ten grandchildren; and two sisters, Faye Couch and Jean Moore.
Graveside service was held Sunday, April 13 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

THELMA DARBY
Thelma Brown Darby, 86, of Williamston, widow of Alvin Nelson Darby, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Petra Health and Rehab of McCormick.
Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Lee and Thursey C. Brown. She retired from Union Carbide and was a Baptist.
Surviving are children, James Darby of Williamston, Charles Darby of Belton, Larry Darby and Fred Darby, both of Pelzer; sister, Lois West; brother, W. D. Brown; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 pm Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with a graveside service following at 3 pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

EDWARD SHERMAN FRAZIER
Edward Sherman Frazier, 71, husband of Sandra Henson Frazier, died April 12, 2014.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Sherman and Ruby Frazier. He attended Trinity Baptist Tabernacle.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two grandchildren, six sisters, and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19 at Trinity Baptist Tabernacle, 824 Piedmont Hwy.
