Agents of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arrested a Williamston police officer Friday in connection with an April 16 domestic incident in Anderson County.
Christopher Shaw Whitfield, 30, was charged with Criminal Domestic Violence. a misdemeanor with penalties upon conviction of up to 30 days in jail or a fine of up to $2,500.
Whitfield was booked at the Anderson County Detention Center.
SLED investigated the case at the request of the Williamston Police Department.
The case will be prosecuted by the Tenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Whitfield had recently returned to duty as a Williamston police officer after being placed on administrative leave as the result of a CDV arrest March. Those charges were dropped.
