FRANK WOODCOCK
PELZER – Frank Edward “Pete” Woodcock, Sr., 90, of Pelzer, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his home.
He was a brave soldier who loved his children and grandchildren and taught them to live life with kindness, joy and love.
Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Liston Livingston and Louise Shealey Woodcock. He was twice married, first to the late Mary Seawright Woodcock and the late Dorothy Phillips Woodcock. Pete retired from the U. S. Navy having served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and later retired from Union Carbide in Simpsonville. He was a member of Augusta Road United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Martha Mackey (Tony), of Williamston, and Cathy Joens (Greg), of Greenville; son, Claude “Woody” Woodcock (Viki), of Fountain Inn; step-daughters, Jean Mosely (Sammy) and Susan Earle; sisters, Doris Lawless, Pearl Schilling and Bobbie Faulkner; grandchildren, Kelly Davis, Jamie Hairfield (Jason), Robert Woodcock (Leah), Mary Chapin Joens and Kristy Hill (Josh); four great-grandchildren, Thomas and Henry Hairfield, and Jacob and Addison Hill; and his best friend, his dog, Sparky.
He was predeceased by two sons, Frank Edward Woodcock, Jr. and Walter Lee Woodcock.
Visitation was held from 10-11 am Friday, June 13, 2014 at Augusta Road United Methodist Church with the funeral following at 11 am. Burial was held at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Family members are at their respective homes.

LARRY ‘GURU’ HORNE
Larry Wayne “Guru” Horne, formerly of Williamston and currently of Greenville, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Oscar Jackson and Virginia Jones Horne. A U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired from Honeywell.
Survivors include two brothers, Jimmy Horne of Williamston, and Steven Horne of Greenville; two sisters, Jackie and Mary Higginbotham, both of Williamston; a nephew reared in the home, Robin Milligan.
His body is being donated to the University of Tennessee Department of Forensic Anthropology for bone cancer research. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

JUNE TRAMMELL
Bobbie June Mull Trammell, 81, of Piedmont, widow of Edward Eugene Trammell, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Eugene and Catherine Marie Cooper Mull.  She was retired from J.P. Stevens.  She was a member of Piedmont Church of God of Prophecy.
The funeral service was held Friday at the Piedmont Church of God of Prophecy.
Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery, Piedmont.

JP LONG
Joseph Pressly “J.P.” Long, 81, husband of Brenda Foster Long, died Monday, June 9, 2014.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late E.L. Long and Ethel Irene Young Long.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired trucker.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Phyllis Davidson of Florence, Brenda Muckenfuss of Lexington, and Stephen Long of Greenville; one step-daughter, Sonya McCauley of Piedmont; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Roberta Gavin of Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.

FRANKIE IRBY GILLIARD
Frankie Irby Gilliard, 63, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Bennie and Kathlenn Irby.
Surviving are her husband, David Gilliard of Greenville; daughters, Janice Garrison of Piedmont, Kateri Irby of Greenville, and Tiwanna Irby of Piedmont; sons, Dion Irby and Don Irby, both of Greenville; brothers, Bennie Irby, Jr. of Greenville and Eugene Irby of San Francisco, CA; 13 grandchildren; and seven, Great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Saturday, June 14 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

JIMMY LOOPER
Jimmy J.J. Looper, 73, husband of Harriet Jean Bigham Looper, died June 13, 2014.
Born in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Kathleen Cole Matthews and James Avery Looper. He retired from Delta Woodside/J.P. Stevens in management.
In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter, Natalie Monson of Irmo; son, Tony Looper of Honea Path; sisters, Shelvie Ramsey and Pat Fowler; brother, Mitchell Looper; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Monday, June 16 at Gray Mortuary Chapel.

MARY MILNE
Mary Catherine Railton Milne, 88, died Thursday, June 12, 2014.
Funeral service was held Saturday, June 14 at Guthrie Grove Church of God of Abrahamic Faith. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

RUTH R. WEBB
Zoie Ruth Rainey Webb, 80, widow of Jackie Willis Webb, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at NHC of Anderson.
Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Flois Sargent Rainey. She was a homemaker and a member of Midway Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Debra Price and Carrie Allen; one son, Mark Webb, all of Anderson; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Rainey of Williamston; and three sisters, Jean Taylor and Joann Black, both of Williamston and Joyce Dawson of Pelzer.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel. Entombment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

JACK BLANTON, JR.
Jack Baxter Blanton, Jr., 52, of Piedmont, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of Martha Ann Crone Owens, of Belton, and the late Jack Baxter Blanton, Sr. He was a brick mason for Kevin Oliver Masonry and a Baptist.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by sons, Billy Blanton of Williamston, and John Blanton of Wilmington, NC; sisters, Sherrie Bishop of Crystal River, FL and Sindy Alexander of Anderson; and brother, James Blanton of Pelzer.
Funeral was held Sunday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Piedmont.
The family is at the home of his mother, 324 Brooks Road, Belton.
Memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

RICHARD JOHN VISSER
Richard John Visser, 94, husband of Grace Rowland Visser of Greenville, died June 12, 2014.
Born in Grand Rapids, MI, he was son of Johannes and Anna DeJong Visser.
He worked as a trouble-shooter for RCA Television. He was a member of  Hampton Park Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Sandra Kaye Clark of Taylors, Grace Ann Nead of Greenville, Mary Ruth Wayt of Plymouth, NC; and sons, Richard John Jr. of France, Allan Fredrick of Winston-Salem, NC, Ronald Herbert of New Palestine, IN,  Donald Keith of Powdersville; and Steven Philip of Greenville; 26 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hampton Park Christian School, 875 State Park Road, Greenville, SC 29609.
Funeral service was held Monday, June 16 at Hampton Park Baptist Church.

MARGIE CAMPBELL THOMAS
BROADWAY, NC – Margie Campbell Thomas, age 90 of Broadway, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at her home.
She was born in Lee County, daughter of the late Shelby Leonidus Campbell and Lola Mae Matthews Campbell. She was predeceased in death by her parents, sisters Mae Byrd, Maude Carlyle, Rachel Coone; brother, John Campbell; her husband, Jessie Franklin Thomas; and her son, Sherwood Franklin Thomas.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her daughters Gail Thomas Smith and husband Ken of Piedmont, and Cathy Thomas Hobbs and husband Emery of Bunnlevel, NC; son, Gerald Thomas and wife Julie of Sanford, NC; sister, Elizabeth Deal of Sanford, NC; and daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Thomas Hargrove and husband Wayne of Broadway, NC; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday evening at the Holly Springs Baptist Church multi purpose building.
