While serving an outstanding arrest warrant in West Pelzer Wednesday, West Pelzer and Williamston Police officers discovered a brick of packaged marijuana inside a home at 199 Mill St. in West Pelzer.
The marijuana weighed approximately 501 grams or one pound. After obtaining a search warrant, several smaller quantities of packaged marijuana and other paraphernalia were located in the residence as well.
Thomas Dantez Hunt, Jr., 23, of West Pelzer was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and operating a drug house.
West Pelzer Police Chief Mike Clardy said, “This is a textbook example of how mutual aid agreements and intelligence sharing benefits smaller law enforcement agencies. We are committed to utilizing every resource available and partnering with other surrounding agencies to ensure that drug sales are not taking place in our neighborhoods.”
Chief Clardy added, “Drug sales and substance abuse knows no jurisdictional boundaries. Sharing intelligence and resources with other municipalities and having diligent eyes through our Crime Watch Programs works.”
