Car chase at high rate speeds loses control

A state trooper examines a car that crashed into a large fence post early Sunday morning as it was being pursued. A trooper attempted to stop the Mitsubishi for speeding on I-85 when the driver refused to stop. The driver exited off the interstate onto SC 86 and drove east toward Piedmont, sometimes at speeds of one hundred miles per hour. At the intersection of Old River Road the driver lost control of the car. The car spun around backwards before striking the fence post. Both the male driver and female passenger were taken to AnMed Health ER by Pelzer EMS. Wren firefighters assisted at the scene with patient care. The driver faces multiple charges.
