The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Brian Emanuel Sims, 40, in connection with an incident on Santee Drive in Piedmont on Friday.

According to reports, on Friday evening Sept. 5th, Sims was involved in a domestic dispute with his live-in girlfriend at 331 Santee Drive. When she decided to leave the residence and drive away, Sims reportedly fired one round from a semi-automatic handgun into the hood of her vehicle, narrowly missing her.

Sims initially refused to speak with deputies about the incident and locked himself inside the apartment; however, a member of the Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team was able to convince Sims to surrender without incident.

Sims has been charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. He is currently being held at the Anderson County Detention Center. His bond has been set at $60,000.

Sheriff John Skipper said, “Our Crisis Negotiation Team trains monthly for incidents such as this. Their training continues to pay off for the safety of our officers and our citizens.”
