Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the following:

EASLEY

Sept. 5 – S. Dunlap responded to 102 Orr Rd. where Betty Chapman reported that she had been contacted by someone claiming to be a bill collector, and had subsequently been flimflammed out of $394.

Sept. 5 – P.C. Henry received a telephone complaint from Eric Meindl, of 716 Mt. Airy Rd. who reported that someone had stolen a check he had placed in his mailbox for delivery and had altered it and cashed it at a different bank.

Sept. 5 – D.A. Hammond received a telephone complaint from Hannah Vinson, of 424 E. Church Rd. who reported that a check had been stolen from her mailbox, where she had placed it for delivery. The check, for $1020, was subsequently forged and cashed.

Sept. 6 – S. Dunlap responded to 113 Tranquil Lane, where Johnny Boyd reported that his home had been burglarized, and items valued at $1820 had been taken.

Sept. 6 – P.D. Marter responded to the 3 & 20 Fire Station, where he met with Candace Brazell, of 778 Hendricks Rd. She said her husband, name and description withheld, had run her off from their home and she wanted an escort to return and get some personal items. Marter and deputy P.F. Elliott escorted her, and when they turned in the drive way, all three vehicles ran over a nail studded board.

PELZER

Sept. 5 – S.D. Cole responded to a traffic accident involving a pedestrian at Mills and James Streets. SC State Trooper Looney was on scene and reported that during his investigation, he discovered that Jonlee Ricks, WM, 34, 5’10″, 180 pounds, had been struck by a vehicle driven by Kristie Hoskins. The Pelzer Rescue squad transported Ricks to the hospital where his injuries were found to be minor. The investigation revealed that Ricks, allegedly under the influence of prescription drugs, had intentionally jumped in front of Hoskins car because he apparently mistook her for someone else and he wanted a ride. Hoskins was not charged with the accident.

Sept. 5 – I.N. Moore responded to 271 Springbook Rd. where Albert Smith Jr. reported the theft of his electric golf cart, valued at $1400.

Sept. 7 – P.F. Elliott was dispatched to 15 Square St. where Gary Smith reported that someone had broken a new exterior light and bracket on hs garage. The damage was estimated at $100.

PIEDMONT

Sept. 9 – S. Dunlap responded to 207 Wigington Rd. where Elihu Wigington, Jr. reported the theft of scrap metal valued at $1600.

WILLIAMSTON

Sept. 5 – J.R Brunson responded to 471 Foster Rd. where Daniel Ford reported that he found the door to the home kicked in when he got home from school.

Sept. 5 – C. Martin responded to the Anderson Speedway where Chris Harvell reported that someone had kicked his truck, leaving a large dent in the door, and had also urinated on the seat. He claimed that a person he named did it, a claim corroborated by another witness. The man he named denied any such actions and said he was in the stands dealing with a fight at the time. The case was to be presented to a judge by Deputy Dunlap. No arrests were made.

Sept. 7 – S. Dunlap responded to 364 Browning Rd. where James Roberts reported finding a tackle box and a circular saw in the case while mowing grass at the back of his property. Dunlap took the items into custody.

Sept. 7 – S. Dunlap was dispatched to 330 Webb Rd. Greatwide where Carlos Gomez reported that while he was on a long haul in his tractor trailer, someone keyed his personal vehicle, causing $1100 in damage.

Sept. 8 – K. Evatt responded to the AnMed emergency room where he spoke with a female who stated that her boyfriend, name and description withheld, had punched her at their home. The famale, who is 37 weeks pregnant, said her boyfriend pushed her down and punched her in the face and stomach. She declined to press charges but the case will be presented to a judge.
