This is a summary of actions in the Journal’s readership area, taken or denied by the Anderson County Department of Public Works:

*   PERMITS SUBMITTED:

13 New Single-Family Dwelling and 1 Addition/Renovation; 4 Detached Garage/Storage Buildings; 3 Demolition; 11 Electrical and HVAC Upgrades; 5 Commercial Including: Powdersville Town Center Retail Building/Shell, Hwy 187 Storage Expansion Building K, Hwy 187 Storage Expansion  Building L, Twister 120 Grocery Store, Electrical for Guardhouse at Orian Rugs; 17 Mobile Home permits including: New Homes, Change of Ownership, moves from other counties, change of location, etc.

  *   DRAWINGS SUBMITTED:

Addition to Three & Twenty Fire Department and various resubmittals

Development Standards

  *   SITE PLAN REVIEW:

§  Anderson County Three & Twenty Fire Department Expansion located on Three & Twenty Road.

§  Anderson County Bridge Replacement Floodplain Development Permit. The bridge is located on Cherokee Road.

§  Oak Lawn Memorial Garden Preliminary Pet Cemetery Expansion, Special Exception located on SC Highway 81. Approval is required by Special Exception by the Citizens Advisory Committee and Land Use Board of Zoning Appeals.

§  Parking Lot Expansion Plans for the Youth Center located on Youth Center Road, Belton

§  Special Exception Application for a proposed communication tower for cell phone coverage located on Hamlin Road. The property is zoned S-1. (Service District) The application will require approval from the Citizens Advisory Committee and the Land Use Board of Zoning Appeals.

  *   LAND USE PERMITS ISSUED:

§  Interstate Tire Expansion located on Easley Highway, Pelzer.

  *   GRADING PERMITS ISSUED

  *   UPFITS:

§  T-Mobile addition of equipment to existing tower. The property is located on Anderson Road, Piedmont

§  Diamond Nails & Spa located on Highway 81N, Anderson.

  *   COMPLIANCE ISSUES:

§  Auto Mechanic Shop located off of Big Creek Road, Belton.

*   Met with Development Standards Manager and property owner who is considering submitting a rezoning application from R-20 Single Family Residential to R-D Duplex Residential on properties at intersection of Beaverdam Road and Breazeale Drive in Williamston (Council District 7)

*   Presher Road Box Culvert Project: crew installed the box, headwalls, and poured concrete around head walls.

  *   Ditching crew repaired section of broken concrete on two streets in the Pelzer area.

  *   Plans were approved for Ellison Plantation Subdivision.

 

Solid Waste

*   Staff conducted pre-construction conferences at two proposed commercial developments. One is in the Powdersville Station development off Hwy 153 and the other is at Reed Road and Hwy 81 North.

 Wastewater  – On call personnel worked Sunday afternoon in the Stonehaven subdivision to repair a leak on the force main from the (#303) Stonehaven pump station. This leak was reported and fixed within 2 hours thus preventing a major sewer leak.

  *   ROW crew cut 5,350 feet of sewer line at the Hwy 8 and Rogers road area near Piedmont.

   *   Met with contractors for pre-construction meeting on Highway 153 in Powdersville to discuss sewer plans for the new Shops that are being built beside the new Chic-Fil-A.

  *   Performed 1 commercial sewer tap inspection at the Chic-Fil-A on Hwy 153 in Powdersville.
