The Palmetto Mustang Regiment Marching Band has had a very productive year. “We have shown continued improvement this year that has resulted in many awards,” said 2014 – 2015 Band Booster Club President Chris Ellison. “We have placed first in one competition and placed very high in several others. Our drum major and drum line won best in class and also we won best musical presentation.”

Palmetto High will be competing in the AAA Upstate Competition this Saturday, Oct. 18 at 12:15 at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan.

“We are happy with our success this year, but our goal is to be at the State Competition in two weeks. Your continued support would be appreciated to keep our band program going the right direction. When we get to state this year, it will be the first time any of these kids have been this far in band season. After marching season, we will be looking forward to our local parades and events during the holidays. We also would like to participate in the indoor percussion events with our members. This event has helped the members grow and work together as a team.”

In order for us to continue to improve our program, the Band Booster Club is beginning their annual fruit sales fundraising campaign for the holiday season. To order, go to www.mustangregiment.org and click on the Florida Indian River Groves link to make selections. Purchases can be mailed directly to your home or picked up at the school. If you know someone in the band, you can select their name to help them meet their fundraising goal or just select a name from the list.

“Your purchases will help keep our band moving in the right direction,” Ellison said.
