The man who was killed in a hit and run incident Tuesday evening on Hwy. 86 in Piedmont had just been released from jail. Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said Varick Scott Kimbrell, 43, died in the hospital after he was struck by a pickup truck which left the scene about 8 p.m. Varick had been released from the Anderso County Detention Center less than an hour earlier.
The driver of the pickup truck, Jason William Yeargin, 33, of Piedmont was arrested later and charged with felony DUI resulting in death, hit and run involving death and other charges including possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
