Piedmont resident Steve Westall recently contributed several cards to the VetCard Campaign, a community project to honor WW2 veterans, many of whom are now confined to hospitals and care facilities due to age and physical infirmity. “The cards are a simple but powerful way to let these men and women know they are not forgotten,” said VetCard Campaign of Asheville spokesperson Joe Elliot. Around 600 WW2 veterans are lost every day of the year, Elliot said. Many school children have also contributed to the project according to Elliot.
