Rhodes to compete in NCAA CC Championships

Marlee Rhodes, a former All-State runner at Palmetto High School and a standout for the Erskine College Flying Fleet Cross Country Tream will compete in the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship Meet in Louisville, Kentucky on Dec. 6.

Rhodes, a senior, finished fifth at the NCAA Divison II Southeast Regional Cross Country meet Nov. 22 at the University of Montevallo, which qualified her for the nationals. Her time was 22:50.

She won the Conference Carolinas Championship on Nov. 7 in Concord NC with a time of 18:49 seconds. She was also named the conference women’s cross-country runner of the year and First Team All Conference.

Rhodes has been a standout runner while at Erskine.

During her junior season, Rhodes won the Division II part of the Will Wilson Citadel Invitation with a time of 19:18, setting a new school record and ran a personal best at the time of 19:30.

She also finished 11th out of 91 runners at the Winthrop Open.

Last week Rhodes ran in the Turkey Gobbler 5K in Anderson where she finished third overall and first in top females with a time of 17:54.8

Rhodes is a sports management major at Erskine.
