Shooting incident remains under investigation

The incident involving a Pelzer woman who was shot while in the bed of her home remains under investigation. According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, on New Year’s day, Steven Curtis Foster returned to his home at 3 Smythe Street at 7:45 a.m. to find the rear door of his residence unsecured and his wife in the bed bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head.

His wife, 58 year-old Mary Foster, was transported to AnMed for treatment. She was conscious and talking at the hospital but had no recollection of the incident. Her wound was not thought to be life-threatening.

Nothing was missing from the house except a ladies wallet that was taken from the victim’s purse. The purse and all of its contents were found dumped in the living room floor.

Investigators learned that the incident occurred between 4:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. and are asking that anyone with information please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (864) 260-4400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
