Williamston police officers investigated incidents involving shoplifting and made several drug related arrests during the last few days of the year. Among incidents investigated:

Dec. 30 – Mark Alan Work, Jr. 33, 16 W. 2nd St,. Williamston was issued a citation for driving under suspension and a warning for failure to use signal after a black Dodge truck was observed failing to use a turn signal while merging into traffic of Main St,. after entering the median from Gossett Dr. J. Taylor investigated.

Azalea Realty of Anderson reported a break-in at a home at 3 Woodmere Court. A white Frigidaire refrigerator valued at $600 and a white Hotpoint stove valued at $500 was taken from the residence. C. Samuel investigated.

Jan. 1 – Williamston Police placed a Verizon LG cell phone into evidence after it was found on Greenville Drive and brought to the station. Sgt. K. J. Winn investigated.

Jan. 1 – William Michael Milford, 38, 206 N. Orchard Farms Ave, Simpsonville was arrested for simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalila after officers responded to Woodmere Court in reference to a suspicious vehicle. According to reports, a small baggy with 2.76 grams of marijuana and 2 glass meth bowls were found inside his jacket pocket. S. N. Robison investigated.

Jan. 4 – Theresa Marie Murphy, 56, 37 Dove St., Williamston reproted an unknown person had attempted to break into the residence. The back door lock appeared to have been tampered with but entry had not been gained. M. E. Simmons investigated.

Dec. 30 – Community First Bank reported that a male suspect attempted to cash a fraudulent check in the amount of $1,389.17 drawn on Collins Building Group, 105 Creekside Dr., Pendleton. According to reports, the bank called the business and were advised the check was fraudulent. The man was told and left the bank. The incident remains under investigation. G. Cremer investigated.

Jan. 5 – While on a routine business check at Dollar General, officers were advised there was a shoplifter in the store putting items in her pocketbook. Rhonda Burgess Wilson, 58, 1130 Cheddar Road, Belton was arrested for shoplifting after items valued at $126.83 were found in her pocketbook. J. T. Hunt, S. N.
