The Anderson County Transportation Committee (ACTC) voted Monday to allocate approximately $285,000 for the repaving of streets affected by the extensive Piedmont sewer update project.

Holt Hopkins, Anderson County Director of Roads and Bridges, explained that the county had exercised its encroachment policy to require the project contractors to set aside $560,000 for repaving.

“We didn’t really trust them to do as good a job as we can, because they aren’t primarily paving contractors. We are asking the committee for the additional funds so that we can also pave a couple of streets just outside the project area. We want to make sure we leave the folks in Piedmont happy, and we think this will accomplish that,” said Hopkins.
