A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from noon today to 7 am EST Tuesday for the Piedmont of extreme northeast Georgia and extreme northwest South Carolina.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and motorists are advised to use caution while driving.

Light accumulations of snow… sleet… and freezing rain is expected. Precipitation is expected to begin this afternoon as a mix of sleet and snow before quickly changing over to freezing rain. Light accumulations are expected before a transition to rain occurs this evening.

Snow accumulations up to one half inch along with a few hundredths of an inch of ice are expected for the area. Temperatures will remain in the lower 30s.

Note that light accumulations of wintry precipitation could result in plenty of slick spots on roads… making travel hazardous.
