GLADYS WATERS

PELZER – Gladys Mayfield Harris Waters, 92, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Julia Isabelle “Mamie” Ward Mayfield. She retired after working with Kendall Company for 26 years and Milliken for 12 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pelzer and the Ruth Sunday school class and TEL Class.

She is survived by daughters, Linda Waters Ford of Pelzer and Joann Waters Crowe of Williamston; sons, William Joseph Harris, Jr. of Duncan, Walter Paul Waters of St. Joseph, MO and David Lee Waters of Lexington; brother, Rev. Lester Joel Mayfield of Pelzer; a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, some natural, some adopted, but all loved.

She was predeceased by daughter, Barbara Jean “B.J.” Harris Bell; brothers, Robert, Junior, Clarence and Darrell; sisters, Edna, Margaret, Mildred and June.

Visitation was from 11:00 to 12:30 pm Friday, April 3 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. A graveside service followed at 1:00 pm at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

WESLEY P. MORRISON

WILLIAMSTON – Wesley “Wes” Paul Morrison, 57, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 16, 1957 the son of the late Ralph W. Morrison and Phyllis E. Morrow Morrison. He married Shelly R. Hunziker Morrison September 9, 1978 in Freeport, IL. Wes was a graduate of Freeport Senior High School. He worked 42 years in road maintenance. With 35 years for the Stephenson County Highway Dept. (Freeport, IL), and the last 7 years for SCDOT (Anderson, SC). He was a loving husband, father and Bumpa (grandfather).

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shelly Morrison of Williamston, SC. Daughters Rachel Dube’ of Belton SC, and Elizabeth Roesch (SPC Anthony Roesch, US Army) of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. 5 grandchildren, Zoe and Zakariah Dube’, Shelby, Madelynn and Olivia Roesch. With a 6th grandchild expected in May to Elizabeth & SPC Anthony Roesch. And a brother, Gerald (Susan) Morrison of Arlington, TX.

Above all he was a man who worked hard all his life, and loved his family. He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice knowing he is with his heavenly Father, and we shall meet him again one day.

Funeral services and visitation were held Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church, Williamston with visitation from 12pm until 1:45pm and the service at 2pm with Rev. Robbie Robertson and Rev. Bobby Chastain officiating. Burial immediately following at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pelzer Church of God Food Pantry.

The family will be at the residence, 166 G Street Williamston.

FRANCES GANNON

Frances Whitten Davidson Gannon, 83, of Pelzer, wife of Samuel Grier Gannon, died April 2, 2015. She was twice married, first to the late William Perry “Bill” Davidson, Jr.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Adger and Lilla Mae Spence Whitten.

She retired from Palmetto High School and New Hope Baptist Church, where she was also a member.

In addition to her husband, survivors include daughter, Karen Grant of Pelzer; sister, Ellen Allred; and two grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday, April 6 at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

‘JR.’ KYLE JR.

Jessie B. “Jr.” Kyle Jr., 56, of Simpsonville, died Saturday, April 4, 2015.

Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he was a son of Jenny Kyle of Honea Path and Jessie B. Kyle Sr. and Elaine Kyle of the home.

He formerly worked at Holiday Inn in Greenville.

Surviving in addition to his parents are, sisters, Sheree Brennen of Illinois, Sande Losaw of Honea Path, Dee Ann Janulis of Williamston; and brother, John Kyle of Honea Path.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 7 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial was in the Garden of Memories, Belton.

THOMAS EDWARD CLARK

Thomas Edward Clark, 77, husband of Mary Maude Clark, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anson County, NC, he was the son of the late John Franklin and Annie Elizabeth Goodwin Clark Avery; stepfather, Guy Van Avery.

He retired from the U.S. Navy and a was Vietnam Veteran.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: son, Thomas Edward Clark, II of Iva; daughter, Tammy Lynn Clark Wallace of Rock Hill; three brothers; one sister; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held April 6.

MARVIN DIRTON

Marvin Dirton, 73, of Greenville, died Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Greenville Health System.

Surviving are his wife, Rosa Dirton of the home; one step-daughter, Gail Spralling of Atlanta, GA; sons, Marvin Dirton, Jr. of Greenville and Michael Dirton of Easley and step-son, Edwin Julian McKinney, Jr. of Greenville; one sister, Dorothy Dirton Hill of Piedmont; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 7 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

MEADOW GRACE OREN

Meadow Grace Oren, one-year-old daughter of Brandy and Cole Oren, of Piedmont, died Thursday, April 2, 2015.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Jude; grandmother, Carol Lewis; grandparents Hyon and Lex Oren; great-grandparents, Betty Sinclair and Larry and Barbara Oren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 7 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast Chapel.

SHERRELL T. COLLINS

Sherrell Trammell “Sherry” Collins, 67, of Piedmont, wife of Dewey David Collins, Jr., died Sunday, April 4, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of Guy Thomas Trammell and the late Helen Louise Teague Trammell.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Pelzer Church of God.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home and her father of Pelzer are sons, Dewey David Collins, III and Paul Thomas Collins, both of the home.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

DOUG FRICKS

Doug Fricks, 49, of Greensboro, NC died Tuesday, March 31 2015.

Memorial Service was held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Gray Mortuary Chapel in Pelzer, SC.

Born in Anderson County, SC, Doug graduated with the class of ’83 at Palmetto High School and earned his degree at the University of South Carolina. He moved to Greensboro in 1987 where he owned and operated the Sub Station II on Randleman Road.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Betty Fricks and his older brother, Anthony.

He is survived by his son, Noah Fricks; significant other and mother to Noah, Christina Harris both of the home; and sisters, Cheri Fricks Garrett of Williamston, SC and Pam Fricks Callaham of Belton, SC.

The family received friends from 5-6:45 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any charity that supports and helps children.

HAROLD C. HUFF

Harold C. Huff, 85, of Easley, husband of Ann Orr Huff, died Saturday, April 4, 2015.

Born in Woodruff, he was a son of the late Charles Eston and Ethel Adams Huff.

He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church in Greenville.

He retired from the Greenville City Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Perry Huff of Taylors and Mark Huff of Gaffney; one daughter, Kathy Huff Campbell of Powdersville; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Kay and Nancy Huff.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at West Gantt First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery West.

LYNNE HAMMOND

Sarah Lynne Freeman Hammond, 45, of Easley, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, a daughter of Evelyn Gillespie Freeman and the late James Malcolm Freeman, she was a radiologic technician and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, is a sister, Beth Freeman Miller of Piedmont.

Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. Thursday, April 9 at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

MICHAEL EDGAR BOYCE SR.

Michael Edgar Boyce Sr., 62, of Piedmont, died February 28, 2015 at his home.

Born in Tampa, FL, he worked at Southeastern Printing and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Theresa Estrada of Port St. Lucie, FL; son, Michael Boyce Jr. of Port St. Lucie, FL; and two granddaughters.

Placement was at Forest Hill Memorial Park of Palm City, FL.
