WILLIAM HENRY CURETON

William Henry Cureton, 66, of Greenville, died Sunday, April 5, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Robert and Ruby Cureton. Surviving are a son, William Griffin of Las Vegas; sisters, Alice Rosemond of Pelzer, Sarah Valentine and Beverly Cureton, both of Greenville; brothers, Russell Cureton of Greenville, James Cureton of Georgia; and one grandson.

Funeral service was held Friday, April 10 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

RONALD ‘RON’ EUGENE STEELE SR.

Ronald “Ron” Eugene Steele, Sr., 81, of Piedmont, widower of Dorothy Burdette Steele, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015.

Born in Jefferson Court House, OH, he was a son of the late Roy Allen and Gertrude Steele.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from General Electric.

He is survived by four children, Janice Williams, Laura Mauney, Gene Steele, and Charlotte Hammond; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Steele and Bobby Jo Steele; and sister, Jeannie Gregory.

Funeral service was held Saturday, April 11 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.

WILLIE L. ASHMORE

Willie L. Ashmore, 66, of Piedmont, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at the Glorified Health and Rehabilitation of Greenville.

Funeral service was held Saturday, April 11 at the Beasley Funeral Home Chapel, Greenville.

GARY SULLIVAN

Gary Edward Sullivan, 67, of Piedmont, died Saturday, April 11, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Cecil Edward and Beatrice Thurston Sullivan. He was a self-employed electrician and a member of Wren Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Julie Sullivan Mullinax of Piedmont; son, Jeff Sullivan  of Easley, step-daughter, Michelle Hawkins of Columbia; the mother of his children, Janet M. Sullivan; sister, Ann Hamby; brothers, Larry Thurston, Allen Sullivan; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 14 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

PATSY HEATHERLY TYLER

Patsy Heatherly Tyler, 75, widow of Robert E. Tyler, died  on April 9, 2015.

Born in Haywood County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Jennings Bryan and Catherine Burgess Heatherly.

Surviving are two daughters, Debora J. Buckner and Linda Barbare, both of the home; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Morris; and two brothers, JB Heatherly and Harold Heatherly, all of Haywood County, NC.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14 at Zion Assembly of God. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

ALLISON LANE NORRIS MERRITT

Allison Lane Norris Merritt, 52, of Piedmont, wife of John Henry Merritt, died Friday, April 10, 2015.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of Rhyner Allen Norris, Jr. and Bobbie McAllister Norris. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by by her sons, Jonathan Ryan Merritt and Sloan Austin Merritt; sister, Melinda Dale Brown; brothers, James Allen Norris and Jeffrey Neal Norris.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 14 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church. Burial followed in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery.

DANNY TIMMS

Danny Lamar Timms, 61, of Pelzer, died Sunday, April 12, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Robert, Sr. and Clara Mae Sargent Timms.  He was formerly employed with Cushman Mill and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Surviving are sisters, Betty Cleveland, Jennie Macnary, Gloria Chastain, all of Williamston; brother, James Robert Timms, Jr. of Belton.

A memorial service was held Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Memorials may be made to the family for assistance with funeral expenses.

ANSEL DAVIS

Ansel Eugene Davis, 67, of Piedmont, husband of Anne Holliday Davis, died Sunday, April 12, 2015.

Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Carl Ansel and Doris Green Davis.  He was retired from Howard-Baer, Inc. and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are son, Brian Davis and daughter, Tess Davis King, both of Pelzer; and five grandchildren.

The family received friends Wednesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MARVIN O. WILLIAMS

Marvin Odell Williams, 72, of Easley, died April 12, 2015 at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Swansea, he was a son of the late Odell and Sarah Williams. He was a US Navy Cuban Missile Crisis Veteran.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen Hoover of Greer; one son, Brian Williams of Charlotte, NC; one step-son, Scott Wilbanks of Piedmont; one brother; three sisters; three grandchildren; and former wife, Pat Williams of Greer.

Memorial services were held Wednesday at Providence Baptist Church.

CORNELIA MAE CHASTEEN

Cornelia Mae Faulks Chasteen, 84, of Greenville, widow of Warren G. Chasteen, died April 12, 2015 at McCall Hospice.

Born in Spartanburg County, daughter of the late William Alexander and Ida Mae Gordon Faulks, she was a homemaker and a member of Burnsview Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, David Chasteen of Greer and Roy Chasteen of Taylors; four daughters, Sandra Chasteen of the home, Wanda Chasteen of Greer, Debra Sims of Greenville, and Rita Boniello of Pelzer; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Burnsview Baptist Church. Burial followed in Graceland East Memorial Park.

JEFF SNELGROVE

SENECA – Jeffrey “Jeff” Todd Snelgrove, 47, formerly of Williamston, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Wilbur Jackson “Jack” Snelgrove and Jane Mackey Garrison.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Beverly Snelgrove of Greer; his mother of Powdersville; son, Zachery Todd Snelgrove of Denver, CO; grandfather, Wilbur E. Snelgrove of Spartanburg; nephew, Matthew Brackett; niece, Katie Brackett; step-sister, Kristy Bright of Easley; step-brother, William (B.J.) Jewell Cartee of Seneca and their families.

He was predeceased by a sister, Jackey Brackett Adair; grandparents, Virginia L. Snelgrove, Robert and Cleo Mackey; step-father, Don Garrison.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

EDDIE LOCKABY JR.

PELZER – Cecil Edward “Eddie” Lockaby, Jr., 63, husband of Cynthia Darlene Fountain Lockaby, died Monday, April 13, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Cecil Edward, Sr. and Dorothy Jones Lockaby. He was retired from U.S. Food Service and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he sang with the Shepherd’s Voice Quartet and the church choir.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Andrea Alberson (Lee) and Stacie Turner (Stephen); grandchildren, Hagan and Clay Alberson, and Kaleigh and Jacob Turner, all of Pelzer.

He was predeceased by his brother, Donnie Lee Lockaby.

Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 15 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 16 at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

BILLY LEE HUDSON

Billy Lee Hudson, 70, of Piedmont, husband of Mary Hudson, died at home on Sun., Apr. 12, 2015.

Born in Fayetteville, NC, he was a son of the late Carl Lee Hudson and Norma Edwards Hudson. He was retired from the Greenville County School District.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Angela Finley and Becky Williams; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and special family friend, Larry Burns of the residence.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM, Thur., Apr. 16 at Cremation Society of SC-Westville, 6010 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29611.
