DAVID LEON LEOPARD

David Leon Leopard, 79, of Piedmont, husband of Carmen Martinez, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late John and Janie Sexton Leopard.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, John Leopard, David Leopard, Jr., Danny Leopard, Teresa L. Smith, and Linda L. Cooley; 14 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leland Earl Leopard.

Funeral service was held Friday, May 22 in the Northwest Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

PAUL LINDSEY

PIEDMONT – Howard Paul Woodrow Lindsey, 94, passed Wednesday, May 20, 2015 and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Hurley Lindsey.

Born in Lancaster, Ohio, he was the son of the late Reuben Reynolds and Tressa Florence Woodgeard Lindsey. He retired from Jones Machine Shop and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was highly decorated, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and Central Europe.

Survivors include daughter, Melinda Sue and husband James M. Edens of Piedmont; son, Richard R. Lindsey of Cocoa Beach, FL; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Paul David Lindsey and two grandchildren, Kevin Paul Edens and Bobby Victor Lindsey.

A graveside service was held at 3:30 pm Saturday, May 23 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

RICKY CARTER

WILLIAMSTON – Ricky Dale Carter, 57, husband of Lisa Mackey Carter, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at his home.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Rev. Joseph and Mary Ellen Owens Carter.  He was formerly employed with Anderson School District One.

Survivors in addition to his wife include daughter, Maria Renee Johnson of Columbia; sons, Richie Carter and Jonathan Josey Carter both of the home; grandchildren, Katelynn and Cody Howard; sisters, Rita Fowler and Mary Ann Guthrie.

He was predeceased by brothers, Joey, Billy, David Carter.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.

The family members will be at their respective homes.

MARGARET PACK

Margaret Ann Williams Pack, 84, of Belton, widow of Joe Harold Pack, died Saturday, May 23, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin “Frank” and Audrey Bray Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy Jo Partain of Williamston, Rita Parnell of Belton; sons, Joey Pack of Ware Place, Tim Pack of Belton; sisters, Shirley Black, Sue Frasier, Diane George; seven grandchildren, ; six great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 26, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

MARGARET NELSON

Margaret Brady Nelson, 72, of Williamston, wife of Douglas “Doug” Eugene Nelson, died May 24, 2015.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Luke Edward and Edna Mae Watson Brady. She retired from Timpken Company. She attended Williamston Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include son, Mike Reese of Williamston; brother, Terry Brady, Sr. of Williamston; step-children, Sandra M. Smith, Robert K. Spillers, Jean Spillers, Tammy Byrd; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, May 27 in the mortuary chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

FRANK QUEEN

Franklin “Frank” Delnore Queen, Jr., 54, of Williamston, died Friday, May 22, 2015.

Born in Laurens County, he was the son of the late Franklin Delnore Queen, Sr. and Sara Jean Clark Queen. He attended Beech Springs Tabernacle.

Survivors include fiancé, Debbie Bannister of Williamston; children, Frankie Queen of Pelzer, Nick Queen of Easley, Zack Queen of Seneca, Leslie Franklin of Piedmont and Nathan Phillips of Greenville; sisters, Sara Smith of Pelzer and Janice Webber of Belton; and twelve grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 26, at Beech Springs Tabernacle. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

REV. MITCH GAMBRELL

WILLIAMSTON—Rev. James Mitchell “Mitch” Gambrell, 62, husband of Amy Cooley Gambrell, died, May 23, 2015.

Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of Sudie Valeria Gambrell of Honea Path and the late William Harold Gambrell. He was a pastor at Big Creek Baptist Church and formerly served as pastor at Fork Shoals Mill Baptist Church and Calhoun Falls First Baptist Church.

Additional survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Brandon and Katie Gambrell of Simpsonville, Barrett and Leigh Gambrell of Williamston; sister, Kathy Gambrell Mussman of Georgetown; brother, Michael Gambrell of Honea Path; grandchildren, Cooper, Hudson, Skyleigh-Grace and Bryce. He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Gambrell.

Visitation was held Tuesday, May 26, from 6:00 – 8:00 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service was Wednesday, May 27, at 2:00 at Big Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

ROBERT CROCKER

Robert Harold Crocker, of Belton, died Friday, May 22, 2015.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and worked at Ray Walker Trucking of Greenville. H was a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Joseph “JoJo” Dillon Graham Crocker; sister, Denise Watkins of Starr; brother, Chris Couch of Pelzer.

He was predeceased by his parents, David Crocker and Elizabeth Black Graham and step-father, G. W. Graham.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, May 27 in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

ANNIE TAYLOR

Annie Norris Taylor, 91, widow of Paul Eugene Taylor, died Saturday, May 23, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late William Eugene and Ola Satterfield Norris. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Surviving are her sons, Paul Taylor Jr., William “Ricky” Taylor, Roger “Dale” Taylor, Stephen Taylor, all of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 26 at Gray Mortuary. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

DELORIS EVELYN BROCKMAN

Deloris Evelyn Brockman, 78, of Greenville, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Evelyn Jackson and the late James Brockman.

Surviving in addition to her mother are daughters, Donella Watts of Greenville, Vanessa Johnson of Piedmont; sons, Vau Louis Johnson of Greenville, John Jackson of Anderson; 14 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 26 at Queen Street Baptist Church. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

ROOSEVELT HARRISON SR.

Roosevelt Harrison Sr., 86, of Greenville, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Minnie Williams Harrison and Rufus Harrison.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Doris Harrison of the home; daughter, Rosella Peck of Andover, PA; son, Roosevelt Harrison Jr. of Walkersville, MD; sister, Francis Johnson of Piedmont; brothers, Albert Harrison, Edward Harrison, both of Greenville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service was held Sunday, May 24 at Long Branch Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

ARTHUR VAUGHN

Arthur Hoyt Vaughn, 63, husband of Cathy Bagwell Vaughn, of Belton, died Thursday, May 21, 2015 at his home.

Born in Belton, he was the son of the late Arthur C. and Daisy Watt Vaughn. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are daughter, Jill Vaughn Sanders of Pelzer; brothers, Harris Vaughn of Anderson, Hubert Vaughn, Harvey Vaughn, Ricky Vaughn, and Vernon Vaughn, all of Belton; sisters, Helen Hinton of Belton, Hazel Wood of Anderson, Hilda Prince of Belton, and Henrietta Hendrix of LaFrance; and one granddaughter.

Funeral service was held Sunday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Garden of Memories.

CHARLES WILFORD WHITE

Charles Wilford White, 73, of Williamston, died May 20, 2015.

He was predeceased by his wife, Delores.

He is survived by eight children and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Home for Children.

ANNE DURHAM

PIEDMONT – Anne Louree Anderson Durham, 55, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015.

Born in Belton, she was a daughter of the late James and Louise Stone Anderson.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Amanda Louise Cothran (Bruce Hyatt) of Williamston; son, William James Anderson (D.J.) of Piedmont; sister, Susan Bunton (Randy) of Williamston; grandchildren, Markus Bentlee and Madilyn Rayne Anderson.

Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church.

A memorial service followed at 2 p.m. at the church.

LARRY DARBY

WILLIAMSTON – Larry Eugene Darby, 65, passed away May 24, 2015.  Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Alvin Nelson and Thelma Brown Darby. He served in the US Marine Corps.  Services will be held on Fri., May 29 at Cremation Society of SC-Westville, 6010 White Horse Rd., Greenville.  The family will greet relatives and friends from 1 – 2 PM, with the memorial service at 2 PM.

BESSIE TEAL GLENN

Bessie Teal Glenn, 89, of Piedmont, widow of Jessie Glenn, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at her home.

Born in Rock Hill, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Jason and Martha Jane Polston.  She was retired from J.P. Stevens Estes Plant.

Survivors include children, JoAnn, Buddy, Robert, Gene, Wayne, Donna; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 11a.m.-12 noon Friday, May 29, at Tabernacle of Faith in Piedmont.

The funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the church.  Burial will be at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery, Piedmont.

“TIM” OWENS

Timothy “Tim” Lee Owens, 40, of Piedmont, died Monday, May 25, 2015.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 – 3 PM Thursday, May 28 at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church.

Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m at the church. Burial will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Williamston.
